What is with the monkey and the Angels? I'm a little out of touch. Since I'm a White Sox fan, my interest in baseball fades around Memorial Day. I live in Jersey so keeping up with the West Coast races can be tough. Please let me know.

Wow, how do you not know about the Rally Monkey? He's the Fuckin' Man on Baseball Tonight. Probably gets more airtime than the Angels themselves do. Too bad they picked this year to have the monkey start paying off.

The story behind it, IIRC from BBTN:

Someone in Anaheim found a clip of a monkey bouncing around in an Angels uniform. They stamped the words "RALLY MONKEY" on the clip, and the rest is history.

That said, my life will not be complete until I have a Rally Monkey. Are they selling them? I thought they may have been, but it might have been people bringing stuffed monkeys to the stadium.

He's probably married, which makes Baseball Tonight a tough sell.

Edit: For some reason I thought he meant the friggin RALLY MONKEY was married. I need to leave the crack alone.

Between a 10 month old daughter and working nights I don't get a lot of opportunities to tune in to Baseball Tonight. When I do get a few minutes of down time the last thing I'm going to do is listen to Abner Doubleday, I'm sorry, I mean Buck Showalter, wax poetic about the suicide squeeze
