Y!: # 9 Posted on 30.8.05 1101.51 Reposted on: 30.8.12 1101.59 Being 17 (almost 18), moving from Portland, OR (where my Dad was) to Seattle (where no one was) to take a job. It made me "grow up" being out on my own and I'm still in the same field, job-wise. Also, not letting the 200 or so miles between Portland and Seattle keep me from hooking up with the then-future-Mrs. JJD. (edited by JayJayDean on 30.8.05 0903)

I am very very glad that I realized before the end of college that my brain is NOT wired properly to be a physician. Of course, I will now spend the rest of my life wondering what I should be doing with life, but I am still much happier NOT trying to be a doctor. (Not that I stood a chance in hell getting into med school... But at least I didn't waste time trying. Did I mention that medical schools want 50 to 100 dollars just to read your school application?) Also, being married is way cool. For me at least.

I started at the very bottom (lab tech assistant), and over the years I have worked myself up to the title of "Chemist 2" without ever having to aquire a 4-year degree in Chemistry. All the other employees there have to have a 4-year degree in Chemistry, where as I just had a wimpy little 2-year degree in Biological Science.
