This week in College, I'm riding these babies:

LSU -3 (buy the 1/2) vs Mississippi State
Auburn +3 vs. Clemson
Oklahoma -3 vs. Florida State

LSU and Auburn I like more than Oklahoma right now.

LSU is a machine, they just win games. They soundly beat Oregon, and it helps us that Mississippi St is playing on only 5 days rest after going life and death with Auburn. Brutal (and stupid) scheduling by them, and I expect Miss St. to be tired and LSU to capitalize handsomely.

Clemson beat Wofford State at home last week by 7. Somehow, they're favored over Auburn. Auburn is a shaky 2-0, but they're still 2-0 and are putting up points in droves. I love them to go to Clemson and win outright, but we'll take the +3.

Oklahoma should handle FSU. FSU doesn't have a win against ANY ranked opponent since 2005. I'm in the camp that they're a smoke and mirrors show. We'll see if I'm right.

I despise the NFL. Its football bizarro world. Take these picks for what they are, but after an absolutely silly Week 1 with 8 upsets, seeing teams play a bit more before we bet a lot is the right answer.

Oakland +3.5 in Buffalo (Darren McFadden, if he can stay healthy, is 2nd to only Adrian Peterson. And that Oakland defense looked SCARY.)

New England and San Diego OVER 54 (New England proved to me last week that they can't stop anyone. Miami sucks and gained 500 yards on them. They can score on anyone whenever they want too, though. 38-28 game I think)

Eagles -2.5 in Atlanta. This pick is based entirely on the notion that if the Atlanta that showed up last week against Chicago shows up again, they get beaten by 20+.

I know the Colts suck. But how bad must they be to be an underdog to a team that lost by 10 at home to the Bengals. Wouldn't touch this game with 2 Ivan Putski's tied together.

Wisconsin -17
Stanford -10
Penn State -7.5

jump out to me. Most confidence in the first 2 and would ride those teams until it fails.

I love Wisconsin, don't know ANYTHING about N. Illinois though, so I steered clear.

I have a future on Wisconsin to win the National Title at +2900, so I hope your pick wins :)

Northern Illinois' coach is Wisconsin's former D-Coordinator, so he's gonna know the tendencies. Thing is, can their D stop Wisconsin even if they know what's coming? They haven't played well the first two games.

The Huskies' offense is also very good (especially the QB), and it'll be a good test for the Badger D that struggled in game one but dominated last week.

Now I'm not confident in a win, but I certainly think it's silly to call FSU a smoke and mirrors show at this point. Young maybe, but the level of talent has increased exponentially the past couple of years. Trying to go back to 2005 and compare those teams to this one is kinda crazy with how much they've changed since Jimbo took over. Wasn't South Carolina ranked when FSU beat them in the bowl game just last year?

My hopes rest on Oklahoma sucking in a huge way when they play out of state, they're missing several top defensive players, and the FSU defense being a hell of a lot better than this time last year. EJ hasn't looked overly sharp thus far, but the offense has been run as vanilla as I've ever seen the first two games just to not show anything.

I'm hopeful. That's as far as I'm willing to go right now.

This week in the NFL I like a couple of road dogs:
Tampa getting three in Minnesota
Chicago getting seven in New Orleans
KC getting eight in Detroit.

Three team tease that one to +9, +13, +14 and profit.

My 'pick against the NFC West' strategy will be tested this week. (Didn't come into play last week because of a divisional game.) Dallas over SF and Washington over Arizona are both quite safe, but Pittsburgh is favoured by 14.5 points over Seattle and the Steelers' crappy performance last week raised JUST enough doubts in my mind. And, even though St. Louis lost a bunch of key players to injury, the Giants are also pretty lousy.
