| #6 Posted on 19.11.03 0418.26 Reposted on: 19.11.10 0418.49 | Can Jericho please use his one Bisch Wish and get Trish a decent T-shirt... You gotta love the WWE democracy to let the fans choose what shirt they should go with. The same sexual innuendo either in past tense or future tense. Thanks for letting us in the process of picking these two distinct choices.
Who is buying this T-shirt? It seems to be gearing to males. But I just don't see too many guys getting women T-shirt Even with the innuendo on it because it's still a shirt about a girl even if they find her cool and like her... I do see women with Lita shirts and Trish white t-shirt when I went to the houseshow. Sure the women demo isn't as large as the male, but they are distinct and those are dollars you can get that you probably wouldn't. So you take one of the very few women that other women can like and make a shirt totally unrelated to them to sell it to a fanbase that don't buy diva shirts.
The DX comparison is interesting, but again that was a rebel group who used it as a catchphrase... I compare this shirt more to those horrible VaChyna shirts(Even this Trish shirt isn't as bad as those LoL). But the stupidity fits just the same, who is this shirt aimed for? Not really the superstars main visual supporters who'd buy the shirt. It's a stupid play on words that is eye catching the first time you see it and might snicker but no one is going to buy it and want to wear it?
I love my Testicles anybody? That sold for about a week... Just another shirt for Lawler to wear while doing commentating like that HLA shirt they came out with which NOBODY BOUGHT or the PUPPIES shirt which again I've never seen a soul wearing but Lawler.
I don't even know which one of the two is less stupid? Probably the second one is better "I just got Blown" which isn't saying much... Too bad for the dumb phrase in the front because the back of it looks pretty sharp

I don't think she's toned down her "sluttiness" at all, she's just become a good wrestler on the side. Those things aren't one and the same. She's still out there in airtight pants that give us a good idea if she's wearing any undies (and she never is), wearing a top that is five sizes too small for her surgically-augmented mammary monstrosities.
I think Trish is a smart enough person to know that hard work in the ring is one thing but without the other major ingredient, her sex appeal, she's virtually invisible to the average WWE fan. Call that unfair, a stereotype, or what have you, but no woman is going to have the same kind of respect from the fans that a male athlete of similar work ethic will. That's just not the world we live in--- just yet. All this shirt does is play up that sex appeal, so that the still-living-with-his-mother, quasi-endomorphic, enterna-virgin who might actually purchase and then wear this hideous piece of apparel can feel like he's got an extra-inch for a few hours. And funamentally, I find nothing wrong with that, because the type of person who would buy this can't be getting laid. Let them have this one thing.

The same could be said for half the male roster (minus the 'good wrestler' part), but you don't see non-stop "Grab my Cock" shirts for Chris Benoit.

Well you're quoting me out of context. The male roster is not portrayed, on the whole, as masturbation fodder and the female roster is. And while "Blow Me" is certainly kicking things up a notch, "suck it" and "down where" and "i love my testicles" are just as sexually suggestive as all previous female merchandise, so I don't think women are obscenely objectified outside of the general context in which they are presented (which can't be helped).

Come on now. The phrase "100% Satisfaction Guaranteed" is mostly used as a promise to consumers. Because it's Trish Stratus, I can see where the sexual connotation comes from, but it is NOWHERE as blatant as "Blow Me..."
These shirts that are too embarrassing and promotes the stereotype of the typical fan of wrestling. I don't see anyone wearing dumb shirts like "U Suck," "Wine me, dine me, 619 me," or "I Just Got Blown." These overtly sexual shirts have got to be sent to the curb. | Nate The Snake

Yes it is. And Trish Stratus is a sex object first and foremost, as far as the WWE is concerned - her "product" is tits and ass. How could it have any other connotation? Yes, "Blow Me" is a lot less subtle (especially given how they designed the shirt) but it's hardly the first blatant sexual innuendo that they've put forth. | drjayphd

First off, out-of-context quoting? My territory.
But really, you do have a point... between these shirts (the ones you mentioned and Stratus's) and some of the other ones (HHH's "no foreplay" one), I bet they're probably the leading employers of high school kids in Stamford. Puerile humor knows no gender boundaries, really. | Net Hack Slasher

| #20 Posted on 23.11.03 2155.39 Reposted on: 23.11.10 2156.03 | As for the Stratusfaction Guarentee taken as a sexual innuendo. I guess you can take it as if you want to look at it. But it is a play on Satisfaction that can mean anything to different people. If your mind wants to go that way I guess pretty much any term you can twist it. She made up that slogan even before she got into wrestling.
HMD, I think you kinda went overboard to make a point, which in principal I agree. But I cannot put the connection of real nice tight pants that's a real nice fit (I still chuckle thinking back to B.Factor's column a long time ago talking about how she gets hypnotized when Trish wore her shiny purple tights pants) and a shirt to being slutty. It's a visual media and the look is going to be part of it... Hell it's the same with the guys, how many guys are wearing Foley gear out there? With the exception of The Dudleyz I can't of think of any who's wearing shirts, and why is that. The joy of rope burn on your skin LoL. Trish's attire is actually conservative among the females and it seems she's able to get her work done with enough comfort.
I think it's obvious that her character has evolved along with her wrestling in the last 3 years. There's a lot more depth to her then just the "hot chick" and please cheer me and if you do I might show you my thong. Which I think as a character makes her alot more interesting. Would this budding relationship with Jericho be as interesting if is just some hot chick? I personally don't think so... Is her sex appeal still a major part of her deal? of course. She's a Bumping Beauty but The Rock's "look" was a part of his success but that doesn't mean he himself didn't bring more to the table to improve his entire character.
As for the shirts. I actually read in some circles some think that girls would buy these "Blow Me" shirts. Kinda like a reverse psychology type of thing like saying "Got a problem with me, Blow Me". I don't know how many people are actually going to get that... With that thinking maybe Blow Off would be more appropriate.
