So it appears that the Tribe is going to sign Byrd for two years, club option on third year. Looks like this'll be insurance in case Elarton and Millwood leave via free agency. Not a bad move I guess, but I do hope they can get Millwood at a reasonable price. He was lights out for the Tribe last year.

I was also surprised to hear this weekend about the mutual interest in Trevor Hoffman. Really not sure what to think about that one, except that I wish they could have kept Howry. Ah well.

I'd say this is a good move for Cleveland, but one thing I noticed this year in following Millwood was that he got very little run support. That's probably where the organization should be focusing all its offseason resources.

Great signing for Cleveland. Byrd's been criminally underrated for years and he launched his star during the playoffs last year. Why the Angels didn't re-sign him, I'll never know.

But I would have thought that the Indians would focus on re-signing Kevin Millwood first, which makes me wonder if those talks have gone south. But if Cleveland does end up re-signing him, watch out for their rotation. A Millwood, Sabathia, Byrd tandem is nothing to sneeze at.

Good move, if CC's coming into his own as he did during the last 2 months of the season is not a mirage, then we will easily have the top 2 or 3 pitching rotations in the AL.

The club seems confident that Ryan Garko is the real deal at 1st, and he really can't be much worse than Ben Broussard. The big question mark offensively is RF. Casey Blake sucks! But with Giles shored up, I think we are stuck with him as the free agent pool is really weak this year, and I can't see Shapiro giving up one of his prized pitching prospects on a trade.

Well, Hoffman went back to San Diego and Wickman re-upped with the Tribe for 1 year/5 mil. Not bad, we still have the best closer in the AL last year.

I'll wholeheartedly agree with the Blake criticism, Shapiro on the radio basically said he's a better utility guy. I wonder if the Nomar talks will go anywhere. I would also agree that Boone and Broussard need to be addressed, but as was also said earlier we'll have to see about Garko.

I'm also hoping Elarton can stick around, too.

You guys got Mariano Rivera too?

Wickman may have led the league in saves, but he was far from the best closer. Rivera and Huston Street were easily better, and I would have preferred Ryan or K-rod to Wickman.
