It seems a foregone conclusion that these two will face off at Wrestlemania. Now, while I am looking forward to this match more than any of the potential matches on the card (that is unless Booker T beats HHH for the title), I am very leery of the final result. HBK has gone on record as saying that he is here for one last run and to put over the younger talent and Jericho definatley needs a signature win, but I do not see it happening. HBK, for all his new found "humility" will never pass up a chance to make himself look good and the biggest wrestling night of the year. There is no way he lets Jericho get the win, clean or through cheating. He will beat Jericho clean and move on to another series of matches with HHH for the title or onto the Rock or SCSA. And that's too bad. Because he could do the right thing, put Jericho over and move Jericho closer to the title picture again.

I hope I am wrong about this, but I doubt it.

CRZ, if this has been a thread done already, I apologize for the duplicity.

Perhaps we'll see a rematch at Backlash which Y2J will win. I can only hope that Michaels does as well against Jericho, as he did against HHH in their match at Summerslam '02.

I assume you're using the same logic here as the common belief that HBK will never get cheers on Montreal? Oh, wait...
Point is, the match should be good and both guys are entertaining enough to make the ride to WM very enjoyable. The point of who wins or loses doesn't really bug me, since neither one really "needs" the big win.

WAS HBK cheered at No Way Out last night? I was curious about that.

I agree with Simba, it doesn't really matter who wins this one, because the match will most likely be outstanding, maybe even a show-stealer on the level of Savage/Steamboat. Jericho could really use that win, but as we've seen with his other big victories, they can all be erased.

HBK got SOME cheers last night, though his first appearance was all negative.

I'm so optimistic, I can see Jericho going over HBK... but then the smarky side of me says it'll never happen. How much HAS HBK changed? Enough to do the right thing for the business here?

I think there's a strong possibility that Jericho will face Test at WrestleMania and move on from their feud to HBK at Backlash. This way, Michaels doesn't have to job on an important PPV, and Y2J can go on a substantial winning streak. When was the last time somebody (who wasn't Tripps) had a 3-month winning streak on PPV?

I see Test jobbing clean on RAW before Mania. Do you really think after no-showing last week and being pulled off No Way Out that they're gonna give him a main match at WrestleMania? I don't think so.

But he's so over in his new gimmick! And with the fantastic Girls Gone Wild cross-promotion behind them, why wouldn't WWE push strap a rocket to Test and Stacy's asses for WrestleMania?

Good for business and the fans? No. Likely, due to recent history... probably.

test isn't bad in the ring. he just has no personality. it's not his matches that concern me, it's him having to talk during promos. :)

I wasn't too thrilled to see "Nice Guy" HBK get the keys to the handcuffs and help Test get unhooked from the ropes. The old HBK would have superkicked Test and said, "Why don't you ask Stacy how gay HBK is?" Then they would have grabbed her and left the ring arm in arm.

Ah, I miss that old asshole Shawn from time to time.

Simba,

I agree. It would have been awesome if HBK superkicked Test while he was handcuffed and formed an alliance with Jericho and Christian. The three of them would have made a great stable. But alas, we have nice guy HBK. But, as long as he lets (and yes, I mean lets) Jericho get a clean win over him at Wrestlemania (sonething I am convinced will NOT HAPPEN), I am OK with Mr. Nice Guy HBK.

God I hope so. Put him in a loser goes to Smackdown match with the Hurricane. At least if Jeff is on Smackdown, he can face Matt, Rey Rey, Nunzio, Noble, Funaki. He has no use on RAW.

You know, these "I'm on my last legs as a performer" heel turns never work. Flair's last ten heel turns didn't work because he's old now and no one wants to boo him after his contributions. Hogan is the same, three years ago if he'd done the deal with the Rock we saw last year, everything would have gone as planned. But he was 48 when they did it, and no one is going to boo the old dude still banging along trying to hang with someone 20 years younger. Especially when they grew up on him. Taker's last heel turn failed. Because everyone knows he's almost done. Austin heel turn didn't work, in part, because his injuries were so well documented over the years it was really hard to want to see someone beat the crap out of him. The most successful recent heel turns have been Rocky and Jericho before him, because they are perceived as "in their prime" and I don't think people would assume they're going anywhere anytime soon (even if one of them is).

Shawn is in the last stages of his time as an in-ring performer. This is not the time for a gratuitous heel turn and an alliance with someone he's been feuding with for two months and hasn't had a singles' match with yet.

Better a heel turn than to keep young talent down. Hogan is doing well as a face because he is putting people over. He has been pinned by The Rock twice, thus passing the torch and has givne the rub to wrestlers like Edge. HBK has done squat since he has been back except rent the title from HHH. When HBK puts over ANYONE not named HHH, then I will say keep him face and cheer him mightily. Until then, I will be ever suspicious of him and boo him at every turn.

Eh, you did see the Rumble right? If anything Shawn looked like too much of a bitch for Jericho.

Sure he might not be putting people over left and right, but he simply aint wrestling enough to do that because of his back. Hell he's even done a pretty decent job of getting Jeff over in recent weeks.

WHAT!?!?! The Rumble he was punked out. It was a screw job. If he wanted to look like Jericho's bitch, he would have agreed to face jericho one on one and let Jericho toss him. Instead, he agrees to a ambush but gets his heat back later by coming BACK THE THE RUMBLE and eliminating Jericho. Come on, that is so bush it is not even funny.

And Jeff?? How has he gotten Jeff over? Didn't he super kick Jeff without letting him get ONE PUNCH IN? I mean come on. HBK has looked nothing but good for the entire time he has been back. He makes me sick now, but I shudder to think how sick he will make me if he does not put Jericho over clean.

As for not wrestling alot, OK, i tis tough to put people over when you do not wrestle. However, it also means you do not get to go voer them when you do the occassional run in or the backstage vignette.

Of course, if he puts Jericho over clean, I will back way off on HBK. But I will bet the farm that does not happen.
