| #1 Posted on 13.2.03 1354.39 Reposted on: 13.2.10 1354.50 | WWE.com has a tribute article for Mr. Perfect here.
In it, you find this section:
"Hennig competed off and on for WWE in the 1980s and 90s before his brief stint in 2002. Even after leaving WWE in May, he kept in touch with some of the Superstars, including fellow Minnesota resident Brock Lesnar.
"I've known him for five years," Lesnar said. "I met him in '97. We were buddies. I only lived 20 minutes from him. I saw him last week. We went to the gym. We were supposed to go fishing next week. I just can't believe he's gone.
"I kind of looked up to him because he helped me out quite a bit. He was just always joking. When I would call him he would answer the phone as 'Minnesota's Greatest Athlete.'"
Now wait a minute...I thought a drunken altercation between Perfect and Lesnar on the "Plane Ride From Hell" led to Perfect being fired? Is the WWE deliberately trying to smooth things over by having Lesnar say this? NAAAAHHH that couldn't be...
EDIT: Also let me point out that the Lesnar section is ABOVE Big Boss Man's comments about Hennig, even though Perfect and Boss Man were "like brothers," had known each other for 15 years and hung out all the time. In fact, Lesnar's stuff is the first thing in the story.

He had lost 6-7 steps from his prime, and if your going to be a lower mid carder at best, any sort of altercation will probably have you shown the door. Plus, by releasing Hennig for this, it provided Vince and Co. with cover for when they fired Hall for his drinking/attitude problems as well. | AWArulz

But guys get pissed at each other all the time. You wake me up with, say, shaving creme on my hand, after a long flight, when I am dead tired and you're drunk, even if you're my pal, I might wack you and be mad for awhile.
They were pals - see seadawg's column from the time when curt was let go?
Wrestlers say Brock's attitude has improved greatly since Curt Hennig was let go. Brock had been picking up some of Hennig's bad behavior and was ribbing other wrestlers, who took offense to it due to Brock being a rookie.
and
Curt Hennig was interviewed on a Chicago public access show and claimed that he wasn't fired by WWE, but was instead suspended for 120 days. He added that he's still on good terms with Brock, which Brock has confirmed during recent interviews, and that he'd love to manage Brock if Paul Heyman gave up his on-air role.

And I'm talking about your take on WWE not "covering" the incident on the plane ride from hell. Where in a eulogy atmosphere is it appropriate to bring up why someone was released from his contract??
Hang your head in shame for suggesting that it has any place being mentioned in such an article that recalls how great Hennig was to be around. There's a time and a place for everything, and you just don't get it. | sethaconda

| #6 Posted on 13.2.03 1442.30 Reposted on: 13.2.10 1442.50 | Hey pal, I'm one of the biggest Mr. Perfect fans around and have all the respect in the world for him. I have "eulogized" Perfect all week long. I was crushed when I heard the news. I mean nothing by this thread other than it's ODD that Brock's comments are the first thing in the story - above quotes by Big Boss Man, Flair, and Bobby Heenan - when Brock only knew him for five years and is known to have had an altercation with Perfect that led to Perfect's firing. Why would WWE do this? Who cares what Lesnar thinks of Perfect when compared to what his long-time, true friends from way back in the business think about Perfect's death? Do you think the WWE is justified in putting Brock freakin' Lesnar's comments above theirs? Especially in light of the Plane Ride from Hell? You suck, chill, if you think I'm doing anything but taking up for Hennig. I'm not saying Lesnar doesn't care. I'm sure he mourns like all of us. But for the WWE to put his comments first thing in the tribute? That's what is out of place. | dskillz

| #7 Posted on 13.2.03 1443.40 Reposted on: 13.2.10 1453.38 | Don't try to stir the pot. I am sure Henning had fights or incidents with many people, so what? Does that mean that those people can't pay respects? What do they have to cover up? Nothing. Brock is telling exactly how he felt about a friend, period. There is enough real stuff going on without trying to create it on your own.
It is a WWE site, of course they are going to put Lesnar higher up. It means more to the average WWE fan to read what Lesnar has to say than Bossman. Not that order makes any difference. I just think you are making an issue out of nothing

I know Flair faced Martel in one back during the Pro Wrestling USA collaboration days in '85, but I didn't remember that occurring as late as '87. | chill

My response to whose comments come first in an article... WHO CARES?! Switch the order and put Boss Man's comments before Lesnar's, what difference does it make?
I'm sure more people would stop reading the article or not even bother if Boss Man was first since who cares about Boss Man? In 2003, Lesnar is a bigger attraction than Flair, Boss Man, and several others.

Does it make a difference? I've never seen nitpicking to such an extent as this -- having a fit over whose comments came FIRST in an article? It's not my fault you can't take constructive criticism.

Last I checked, Lesnar was main eventing PPVs, winning the World Title, and is slotted to main event WrestleMania. If you don't like Lesnar, that's fine. My question is: WHO CARES what order Hennig's friends appear in? From what I can tell, everyone who has something to say about the guy is expressing their feelings. You're having a hissy fit because Lesnar was mentioned first? LOL. Vent away, buddy. If that's your biggest complaint... nah, I won't finish that sentence.
You suck, chill, if you think I'm doing anything but taking up for Hennig.
Well how noble of you to be defending Hennig's honor and taking up the cause against WWE for listing Lesnar first in an article! Bravo. The nerve of them to list one of their biggest stars first, in hopes of attracting more people to read the article than Boss Man would. How DARE they?!
But for the WWE to put his comments first thing in the tribute? That's what is out of place.
