He was filling in for Jose Theodore when he was slumping early on in the season. At least he's better than the recently departed John Grahame and Steve Shields. Talk about lose-lose situation Dafoe is stuck in the ATL (and injured) and the Bruins were left with a goalie... But yes Hackett looks like could do a decent pick up.

Reposted on: 27.1.10 1032.13 | Well, Montreal didn't trade him directly. And a 34 year old Hackett isn't exactly in the elite of the league. It is an upgrade for the Bruins, though. Hackett is also an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, so this may be a rental only. Getting Jeff Jillson in the deal bodes well for the Bruins as well.
PS - Watching Hackett play with his balck and gold Bruins uniform and his red, white and blue Canadiens pads the other night was priceless! Especially getting the shutout! | dunkndollaz

Hackett wasn't going to be coming back next year, regardless of what he did this year. The Habs tossed the money bags at Theodore during the off-season, so it was obvious that he's number one. Add the fact he's a french-canadian goalie, Theodore is pretty much a lock to be number one....at least until he lets in nine goals in a game against Detriot. Sundstrum isn't great, but he isn't bad either. He fills a hole on the second line, and IIRC, he scored a critical goal a couple of days ago which helped the Habs win. The Habs also save money, because they won't have to spend a million or so on a backup goalie.
The Bruins get a solid goalie for the nsext couple of years (if they keep him after this year), and trade a defenseman they weren't going to be getting back. Even if Hackett doesn't come back, the Bruins still come out of this trade looking good.
San Jose gets a firstline defenseman at the cost of a secondline winger, and all other people involved in the trade stay in another conference. McLaren will surely enjoy the atmosphere in California. San Jose seems to get some good out of this trade too. | Dick the Bruiser

Hey Now! Grahme has been doing a fine job since coming to the Lightning. He's got 3 wins, 2 shutouts, and is pushing the Bulin wall for the number one spot.
