There was this kid in work, and he ragged on me about wrestling, "You know it's FAKE, right" and all that shit. And when they did that stuff this summer, and everyone thought it was a work, about 20 people got on HIS shit, and it was SOOOO funny.

I mean, the deal IS fixed right? I figured after that one dude died or whatever, they decided to take a page out of wrestling's book and rig the races to make sure no one got hurt? Well, anyway, that's what I was telling the kid, since NBC was carrying NASCAR and they had the XFL, they just called Vince (since Dick Ebersol had his phone number, see), and Vince gave them ideas how to work angles. I remember my roommate (he's a hick, too) was watching a race and this dude cut a TEXTBOOK heel promo at the end, and they showed him getting in a fight with another driver after the race the week before (and the camera just HAPPENED to be there???), and I'm like, wow, the whole things a work now.

But, I mean, it still sucks. Why don't they give them like an obstacle course or something.

Watkins Glen and Sears Point are Road Tracks with some obstacles.

In other news NBC has totally worn out Metallica "Fuel" just in qualifying.

Thank God all the other races are on FOX

After the Daytona 500, all the races are on FOX until the Pepsi 400 July (at Daytona) when NBC/TNT picks it back up until the end of the season. Personally, I like the FOX presentations better than NBC's, if only for Darrell Waltrip's commentary.

And no, the deal ISN'T fixed, at least no more than anything may or may not be fixed. We covered this on the old board; Dale Jr. was running the same car with the same setup at the Pepsi 400 as he was in the Daytona 500, where he finished second. Yes, it *could* have been fixed, but it's more likely that he won legitimately because his car was just as dominant in the second race as it was in the first and it was the same car he won at Talledega with (another superspeedway). As for heated "promos" and exchanges, most likely you're referring to Tony Stewart or Jeff Gordon, who had a few public exchanges off-track after on-track exchanges during the race. When you're doing 200mph around a track and someone does something that you feel is reckless, you get pretty pissed, which is what happened between the two of them.

It seemed like last year NBC did not know what was going on last year with Cameras or the Announcers. Beny Pasons has seen one too many races.

Waltrip's comments on FOX make me trip (Humor), but at least he knows the facts about the race track and the car.

I think Benny missed working with Ned Jarrett from their ESPN days last year. Ned was always more of the straight-man/technical analyst of the duo.

Anyway, I hope this years 500 put the idea to rest that it's possible to fix/book the outcome of a Winston Cup race.

Just think all Sterling Marlin had to do was just sit in his car while under the red flag and more than likely he would have won the race under green with 3 laps left. But he got out of his car=PENALTY

Jeff Gordon Started all the wrecks.

just my thoughts of Daytona 500

Since Sterling had the tire rubbing on the fender, he would've had to pit and therefore most likely would not have won.

He could have made it with 3 laps, the fender was barely hiting the tire sources say. (ESPNRPM2NIGHT)

Wow, I hadn't heard that. I can still see why he did it though. He would have driven almost two laps with the fender rubbing, certainly long enough to feel how it was affecting the car. If the tire had gone down with him in front he might have wrecked and it could've wrecked the whole field. (again)

Also, given that they were at Daytona, and given where Sterling was when a certain black #3 car hit the wall, I'm thinking if I were him I wouldn't want to risk all that if I could just pull the fender away myself. Especially if there was not penalty, which apparently he thought there wouldn't be.
