As a Yankee fan, I can't get terribly excited about Osuna, nor can I get excited about unloading Duque. I would rather have Orlando in the bullpen and as a spot starter than Osuna. Now, if it were Rondell White leaving for Osuna, I would get tingly.

Yet another example where the geniuses in the Red Sox ownership group will be able to bring out there 'we were so close to getting him, but then the Yankees interfered with out plans.' Eventually, someone will listen to me an realize that Werner, Lucciano and Henry are a bunch of a frauds who will destroy the Red Sox from within in the same manner Werner destroyed the Padres and Henry the Marlins.

So I get to root for a 1-2 punch of Mark Buehrle and Bartolo Colon, and Billy Koch coming out of the bullpen. Suddenly I am finding myself looking forward to April Seriously, I am stunned that Kenny Williams extracted his head from his ass long enough to attempt such a deal. Though my joy is tempered by reports that Colon may have ballooned to Shawn Kemp proportions this winter, which gives me flashbacks to the David Wells debacle.

Just hope that it is just the weight and not Colon also trying to catch up to Kemp in the illegitimate children department.

As for El Duque, let's not forget that he is really 96 years old, was constantly surly and means the Yankees only have 54 starters now. Stupid Sterling Hitchcock.

Surly shmurly, the guy is still a good pitcher.

By the way, hasn't it been over a year now since anyone considered Sterling Hitchcock a starting pitcher? It's been at least since they gave him $6 mil a year...

No way, man... We don't want Colon. At least, I don't. Surrender Hillenbrand and Fossum (if reports can be believed), only to bloody RENT Colon for the final year of his contract before the Yanks get him in '04? No, thank you.

Much like when they were only renting that Martinez kid for '98 when they traded Armas and Pavano for him. I wonder whatever happened to that Pedro guy.

Good point, good point. But, still, it's a gamble. Given what the Yankees did just to keep Colon out of Boston this year, I have to believe the Boss will make a run at him in '04, especially since he will be in the market for starters.

It wasn't a debacle....the ChiSox damn sure didn't lose any talent for him.

Big Bad: who knew that Sirotka's labrum was going to keep him out forever? I guess that trade really was more of a wash than anything else.

The one player we got to trade for to increase our pay roll is now gone. At least we got a decent pitcher in return AND kept him out of the National League.

Yankee fans seem kind of torn on El Duque. I think being on a small market team will motivate him to prove that he didn't need the Yankee's deep pockets and explosive hitting to make him a good pitcher.

I say he wins at least 15.

Signed, the lone Expos (and Ottawa Lynx) fan.
