As much as I enjoy having a thread I started reach over 100 posts and 3000 thread views (and of course I will take complete credit for it), I need to spare everyone a lot of reading by starting over and talking about my recent exploits.

Actually, I hadn't played SYM for a good two months, which can be attributed to the purchase of a Gamecube and the games Super Monkey Ball 2 and Metroid Prime. This past weekend, I decided to get back into it, and I am happy I did.

I will preface this by imploring some of you SYM players to start your next season with a guy low on points. I had chose Raven. Well, the main advantage to this is that you can interact with the major owner vs. owner storyline more with a guy who doesn't have 90 points off the bat. Let me explain.

The two previous seasons I had guys high on points (Jericho and Hogan to be exact). Within a month or two, I was winning the Undisputed championship and the major storyline for my guy was defending the title. Because of this, the arrival of Stephanie, the surprise of Shawn Michaels returning, and the nWo "invasion" didn't affect me too much. I would be too busy facing Brock or Taker for the title to notice.

Which leads to my experiences with Raven. I started out on Raw, teaming with William Regal occassionally, and feuding with Jericho or Matt Hardy. I didn't have enough points for the King of the Ring (which was a blessing in disguise), so I kept feuding with mid-carders. When the ownership battle started up, I defected to Smackdown and joined Vince McMahon. I fought Flair's guys for much of the summer. Stephanie got introduced into the storyline, but instead of it not affecting me, she would often come to me with requests and let me make certain stipulations for PPV matches against Flair's guy. In fact, later when Michaels came in, I had to face Ric Flair with Shawn in his corner, while I had Steph in mine.

I fought and helped Vince's side win in the Survivor Series 6-man match. I was left out of the Armageddon match (I was surprised by my omission), but I was finally given an Undisputed title match at the Royal Rumble. After I won that match, Vince brought in the nWo. Instead of just noticing their entrances (like the previous time with Jericho), I was brought right in the angle, as Hogan did a Rocky to me (it was cool seeing Raven get hit with a hammer and then nailed by the nWo big-rig truck). I then had to take out X-Pac on Raw, beat Kevin Nash at the No Way Out pay per view, and then move finally on to Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania. I beat Hogan at WM, and he of course turned to the yellow and red. The final nWo angle happened after that as I got be get attacked by the newest nWo member, Big Show (someone I had feuded with in the past as part of the SD vs. Raw storyline so it made sense).

I thought that having the Undisputed title was really great, but now I realize that you miss out on a lot if you win a title (any title really) right off the bat. I have defended my Undisputed title since WM against Benoit at Backlash, HHH at Judgement Day, against Benoit again at KOTR, and then against KOTR winner X-Pac at Vengeance. I have settled into this pattern, so I might throw the next Undisputed title just to see if there is more I am missing as just a singles wrestler with no title.

So to close, not having a big title right off the bat was a big plus to me because I could get into the storylines and they made more sense to me. I want to try this again (starting with a wrestler with low points), but I am also really jonesing for hitting 5* frog splashes and multiple Rolling Thunders on people.

Has anyone else started with a low guy, and followed a similar road as me?

I'm not sure what his starting point total was, but my first time through was with The Hurricane. As a huge Hurricane fan I was reall excited seeing him in the nWo truck angle and posing with Hogan after their match at Wrestlemania x8.

What I'm not enjoying with SD:SYM is the Create a Wrestler mode. All my CAWs end up coming out with incredibly malformed bodies. I miss No Mercy's easy CAW mode... =(

Yeah, Torchslasher - I started off w/ my CAW at 50 pts, and it took about a year and a half to get to 99 and the undisputed championship. I also noticed that once you win the belt, it's all about the belt. Most of the random cool things stop happening to you. Next time I will be picking a low-ranked preloaded 'rassler (Orton?) and see what happens.

I have kind of taken that route my second time through with the second CAW I made- Deadpool (I got him to look better, but still not totally right...). I turned down title shot after title shot, had a fun run as both Tag Champs and Hardcore Champ, but I finally decided to take the title shot at Armageddon- the six-man Hell in the Cell.
My strategy was simply- LOTS of Dragon Sleepers on Brock- he taps out to those all the time. If I could not get to Brock, I would hit Jericho (the current champ- still, from the LAST season I played) with the same strategy. Also, Stay-away! from the Rock and Angle.
So my strategy is working great. I get Brock in yet another Dragon Sleeper (he had been taking 5 or so in singles matches, I figures he would take a few more in the Cell), and I get the "Give-up!" I was stoked, it worked!
BUT NO! Turns out Bob, from Accounting, my ORIGINAL CAW, had The Rock of all people locked into an STF, and that made Rocky tap.
Dammit... I do not know whether to be pissed, or happy....

Has anyone lost to Hogan at WrestleMania? I'm curious as to whether or not he stays with the nWo if he wins the Undisputed Title.

Brock and I lost to Hogan & Nash (I chose the tag team main event), and sure enough, after the match, Hogan and I shook hands and the pose down ensued. (broken up when Brock tagged me to end our partnership.)

Sorry to burst your bubble Torchslasher, but a friend of mine who started out with Eddie Guerrero and had the belt undisputed title 1 month (and a super high rating) into the season did have the nWo angle, with especially the same stuff you just said (including Big Show turning).
I however played with Angle, didnt even get a title shot for one entire yet and did not mingle with the nWo at all.

And El Pescado, I dunno if you make the CAWs yourself or that you get them from sites but it seems that to make them look good you have to cheat a bit with their real heights.
Like if you do alot of figure shaping (the arms, chest, legs etc) then you might need to tweak the height of the guy so that it looks good. I am not 100% sure what the science is behind it, but it seems to work.

I decided to try the low point thing a while back and I decided to go with Tajiri. Why? Because hard kicks rule! I didn't realize how true that was until I started breaking out his Side Shuffle Kick. Just four of those bad boys gets you about 3/4 of the way to a full Smackdown! meter.

I'm starting the game with a CAW modeled after myself and it IS a completely different experience. I started out on heat and feuded with Spike Dudley and Mark Henry before finally getting called up to RAW. Didn't get a King of the Ring berth, but now Vince is courting me to come to Smackdown and I just got a pinfall victory over the Rock. Happy days are here again.

FANTASTIC!
So the CAW I first played with (Bob)wins the belt at Armageddon. So as Deadpool, Flair offers me a title shot at the Rumble if I can win a match tonight (I ended up having to go through 3 guys, but whatever). I go all the way, and its Bob, from Accounting vs. Deadpool for the Undisputed Title. This was likely my funnest match to date, on a novelty level. And it qualified as an actual "good match" too, which surprised me.
So I won the belt and I am tossed into the NWO angle. Now I am curious to see what happened, because earlier in the season, I was paired with the Big Show to go on and win the tag titles. I made us a stable, giving us an intro and everything. Hell, we rarely have matches together anymore but he still runs out to help me like once a month (and I helped him win the European and Hardcore belts). So what happens when he joins the NWO? Will he turn on me? Or will our "Alliance" be forgotten?

When he turned on me (as Chris Jericho), I had a match with me and him vs. Kevin Nash and X-Pac. We won the match, but afterwards Nash held me by my arms, while X-Pac talked to Big Show. Then Big Show started beating the crap out of me. It was a full-blown heel turn. Of course, to me it didn't mean much cause I hardly teamed with Show, but if that happens with you it would be perfect.

Yeah, well as I was going through the season with Matt Hardy (not teaming with anybody very much, I might add), the same Big Show heel turn happened. I got suddenly thrust into a Matt/Show vs. Nash/Pac match, and after the match Show beat the hell out of me. Despite the fact that he and I had never teamed before until that match.

I, for one, would've thought it cool if Jeff Hardy or (gasp!) The Hurricane were to turn on me and join the nWo. You know... some kind of strange twists like that that would stun people who've already seen the shows. After all, part of the fun of the original nWo (1996) was the knowledge that anyone could be an nWo member in disguise, and that you couldn't trust anybody, not even your own best friend.

Man, managed to book myself into a somewhat interesting angle on accident....Flair and Vince held a tag tourney for the titles, I choose Hogan as my partner, we went through everyone and took em. Hogan then won the Royal Rumble, so the standard feud with him began but we remained champs the entire time, defending them periodicaly. After each win he'd leave and the announcers'd make a big deal about how he wasn't really my friend ~_^

Finally got to Mania, choosing a Three Stages of Hell match vs Hogan....and lo and behold he CRUSHED me, starting out with two Smackdowns already loaded, legdropping my poor HHH twice and destroying me

That HHH, everyone ALWAYS holds the poor guy down
Reload, and I figure out my strategy....if I'm not in the ring he can't hit me with that blasted legdrop. Still one HELL of a fight though....managed to Pedigree him up on the concrete next to the stage, drag him back to the ring, drop the ref just before he hit me with another legdrop of death, kick out at I think a 137 count, bail the hell out of the ring, get a cheap stunning rope drop on him from out there, slide back in, Pedigree him again and take the first fall for the street fight portion

Second fall was Last Man Standing, I again go up to the stage....beat the snot out of him by USING THE KNEE, DDT him....and he goes down for a 10 count before I could even charge up for the first Pedigree

God the difficulty in this game is weird....the credits just cracked me up though. Now I'm wondering who to take for the next season....I STILL somehow or another haven't unlocked Socko for my Mankind CAW

I have resorted to the go outside and build up the energy trick, but it hardly ever works for me. If the opponent so much as touches me, he always throws me right back in the ring, and most of the time has the SD where he can use it while I'm on the ground (Rock, Hogan, etc). I have even resorted to throwing the opponent outside the ring, and taunting like there is no tomorrow. I figure that Raven's arms must be tired by now from all the posing.

BTW, I bitch about tough computer opponents, but then sometimes I can't lose if I try. Case in point, the No Mercy tag title match with Flair/McMahon. I didn't want to win the tag belts (the Undisputed title is enough for me), so I tried to lose. Of course McMahon is a pushover, so it took me like 10 minutes to let them get enough energy to finish me off. It was so frustrating because it's now tough to win or lose on purpose (unless it's against the Rock; then I lose anyways).

My new favorite trick is to beat the shit out of Earl Hebner and build up my Smackdown meter that way. Slap on the submission and it's good night, Irene.

Good night, Irene, by the way.

Bastard Show turned on me finally in a tag match vs. Hogan and X-Pac. Brock (of all people) came out to help me, and offered to team with me against them at Wrestlemania.
So, being the pissed of heel that I am, I beat Brock's ass right there, then again at the following show.
So then the first match at Wrestlemania is the Big Show putting up his Hardcore title... well, needless to say I would not let that stand, so I ran out, beat his ass for like ten minutes, and that strap was a goner. So Billy is the Hardcore champ, but at least the Show does not have it anymore.
Punk ass... And after all we had been through *sob*!

Wrestlemania..the biggest show of em all..Hardcore match..Big Show vs Billy Gunn? ROFL!!

So did Brock turn on you too after you whooped him or did you team up at WM still?

Damn..after having to give the game and the PS2 back to its rightful owner I am really going through a deep depression..I try to get my fix through all of your experiences ;)

Oh yeah, I faced Brock the very next Raw... right before Wrestlemania. Maybe it is just me, but Brock is easy as pie to beat... especially after a Torture Rack!
Had a lot of fun making a new entrance and updating my CAW Deadpool's finishers. Why is it that they have original entrance moves and music, but not videos? That kind of sucks...
I put the game down for a month or so to play MechAssualt, Ace Combat 4, and Bounty Hunter... I just started playing again and it is way fun...

I have to fix my CAW's entrance. He comes in on Taker's bike for some stupid reason. Otherwise, I'm having fun with it. I had to create myself. The Mountain Man dominated Heat and was on RAW in eight weeks. Flair immediately threw me into the KOR tournament. My first round opponent is Christian. Flair had me tag with Bubba against Christian and Rhyno. Rhyno and Bubba never saw the ring as I made Christian submit in 90 seconds. He tried to talk shit to me after the match, but it means nothing to the 6'4", 285 pound Mountain Man. Damn, I love this game!
My toughest opponent so far has been Benoit. Dude took three Michinoku Drivers before I finally got the 3 count.

OK, something HORRID happened in this game. Truly terrible! It almost made me want to throw the game away. Well, not that bad, but close.
I lost my Undisputed Title to BILLY. Yeah, Billy. I guess he was pissed at not being invited to the KOR tourney, and decided to force me into a Ladder match. His superstar points were only 81 too!!! For some reason, even though I beat the snot out of him the ENTIRE match, I could not get the damned title down. But he rolls in the ring right after I set up the ladder, reverses me, hits me with ONE move, and I can't get up. He strolls up the perfectly placed ladder, and gets the belt. I must have been on the ground for a MINUTE after that, and I was not even stirring.
To make matters worse, after that, I get stuck in a TAG TEAM program with the Big Show, and no matter how often I beat him senseless during the matches, we keep getting paired because of that stupid stable that I can't delete!
Wo is me...
