From wrestlingobserver.com:
"Also on the shows they announced at the Rumble that participants will enter every 60 seconds, instead of the usual two minutes, which means basically a 35 minute Rumble instead of a 65 minute one. While we are now eight days away, still only a handful of participants have been announced. "

Well doesn't that just suck?

Oh son of a bitch! Yeah, because the last time they did that, the Rumble was sooooo good. McMahon, you suck!

God, it really IS 1995 all over again.

Don't they do this every year? I remember a big uproar prior to last year's Rumble, and they wound up going with the longer intervals.

And they're cutting the Rumble...WHY? So they can give Triple HGH and Steiner 30 MINUTES?! So they can give Big Show more than 5 minutes?! So they can go ahead and add that Dawn Marie/Torrie Wilson match the world is just DEMANDING?!

GOOD GOD, PEOPLE! THIS ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE! Cut out the shit and there's more than enough time for a good Rumble! But I guess that makes too much sense!

Benoit/Angle better get 45 plus minutes now. Since it is 1995 all over again(great year to steal from Vince), does this mean a big, fat, talentless stiff is in prime position for King of the Ring and a SummerSlam Main Event? Forget Uncle Eric, this might be the year of Mark Henry.

Please don't tempt Vince, because he's about THIS CLOSE to giving the King of the Ring and the Summerslam Main Event to Albert-Train. And NOBODY wants that!

I got say I doubt that this is going to happen. It is a "rumor," nothing more.
I will use the Shawn Michaels/Jericho confrontation for proof. Everyone got on Michaels because he said that he went the whole "60 minutes," when it was a lot less than that.
I don't think the guy is an idiot, and he KNEW that. I think he was given that, because that whole exchange, from a writes standpoint, was exposition. Anyone who did NOT know what the Royal Rumble is, they do now.
The WWE may be great at forgetting things week to week, but that seemed like a major set-up point and I do not think they will change anything....

A rumor? WWE announced the one minute intervals on their syndicated show.

Rumors do have more viewers than the syndicated shows.

Well it does make sense. The year Shawn "went the hour" it WAS a 1-minute interval situation. It was changed that year to protect him. It changes every year. It's always revolved around 60 seconds, to 90 seconds, to the full two minutes. I'd say 90 seconds would be the best format this year because most of the roster isn't over enough to sustain heat in this match for a full hour. Honestly, Spike's entrance is NOT going to entertain people for a full two minutes before Tommy Dreamer comes out flanked by B2.

This year's edition won't have Austin, Rock, Angle, Benoit, Triple H, Steiner, Hogan, or anyone who has been pushed as a top hand during the last 12 months. Sorry, but I think shortening this root canal of a match (on paper, at least) is totally valid.

I'd imagine this s their way of making the Rumble more micard-friendly. A 40-minute match is a Hell of a lot easier to place in the middle of the show than a 70-minute one, which means they could plausibly put BOTH World Title matches on afterwards and not have to worry about overrunning or anything. But yes, one-minute intervals do suck-although they rarely ever stick to accurate timekeeping during the Rumble anyway.

It went 53:39, actually. So still closer to 65 minutes than 35.

Great point by oldschool hero; there will be more than 60 seconds between entrances. I fully believe that 90-second intervals would be better, but so what? It's not like they fill the ring with 30 guys, then start the match. This can help "level the field" to the casual fan, making it seem like Jericho, I mean the poor sap who draws number one, has a better chance of winning.

Gugs: There's also the small chance that Jericho will challenge Shawn into duplicating his feat, and Shawn will come in #1 and last 'till almost the end only to be eliminated by Jericho. That would be a more interesting buildup to a Wrestlemania blowoff, and it would work better since we know Jericho is going to job there - so why not give him a moment or two in the spotlight?

Plus, it would fit better with the Federation's DUMBASS decision to go 60 seconds this year. Shawn would need it to go the whole match - Jericho definitely wouldn't.

Hm, that's odd, I mean...

on all the hype and such for it on all the shows, they keep pimping the rumble event itself as "the most exciting hour of wrestling of the whole year"

Royal Rumble match itself is one of the best gimmick match concept out there, even if it is mid card heavy. But I guess we need to fit in the 15-20 minute recap promo of the POC 4 months feud setting up the 3 minute Torrie vs. Dawn match.

60 second intervals do NOT mean it will be a 30 minute match folks..they might have something different up their sleeve.

And besides, last year we were in an uproar because there would be a 90 second interval and that never happened.

I think for once we should just relax, sit back, and see what the actual RR brings us.

Wow, dMp, you're the first person to not sound disappointed by something he or she hasn't seen yet.

For the record, I think they will use the more frequent entries to clog up the ring once or twice (before the six-man, five-man, four-man end) and provide some teases of alliances and break-ups. The Rumble has always been a giant stew of potential. I'm interested to see what happens.
