E.T. said it best...."Ouch!"

There's not much more to say than that, except congratulations to a superbly coached game and Michael Vick.

Injuries and bad calls played their part, but in the end they were simply beaten.

Good luck with Philly.

Perhaps all those Packer fans who assumed a win over the Falcons was in the bag and ran their mouths about a trip to Tampa in round 2 have learned a lesson?

Probably not, because these are the same people who one week ago were certain homefield advantage was theirs and that the Super Bowl was as good as wrapped up, but the ass-kicking at the hands of the Jets did nothing to derail them.

I have said it all season, and now it is confirmed: the Packers were not that good this season. Having one of the best QBs in history can carry you to a great regular season, but Favre can't do it all himself forever.

And this NFL season just keeps getting weirder. If Vick can beat GB in Green Bay, I have no doubt that he can beat Philly in the Vet. Who the hell knows anymore? I'm calling Atlanta vs. Cleveland in the Super Bowl, just because that makes the least sense.

There is nothing more accurate than that statement about the Vet. And not in the good way.

No kidding. I'm not surprised that the Jets wiped out the Colts (though I did expect the Colts to at least score). However, to see the Falcons completely manhandle the Pack - in the snow - AT LAMBEAU - was definitely not what I expected.

At this rate, I can't rule out a Falcons/Jets Superbowl. (I don't think it's too likely, since the Eagles and Raiders are still out there. But after today - who knows?)

I say Giants-Jets, in the first all NYC Super Bowl, with the way things are going...

I mean, hell, if the Jets can keep rolling, the Giants can as well, right?

Back on topic: Congrats Mr. Vick and the Birds. That is all.

I'm sorry, but they were thinking of FIRING Dan Reeves at the start of the season? I think last night's game shows that the braintrust should stay quiet and let the damn guy do his job! Patience is a virtue and we're seeing the fruits of patience with the Falcons.

I think the Falcons have another upset left in them as I think Donovan McNabb will come back with Kurt Warner-level rust and the Eagles defense will get shut down.

If that's the case, I hope Mike Vick's saying his prayers, because the Bucs defense completely made him their bitch last time.

What sadist in the NFL offices decided to put the Southern dome team in a night game in Green Bay, and then; as a reward I guess for doing that, in a night game in Philly. Anyone have the over/under on the drunk/disorderly conduct arrests during that game? I've got 250.

Hell, a Jets-Falcons Super Bowl would be par for the course in the current NFL. Although, as you mentioned, the Eagles and Raiders are the obvious favorites, both are far from dominant and both have obvious weaknesses to be exploited. I expect the Eagles to win the NFC but, the Jets have that New England Patriots vibe from last season because of how hot they've gotten at the end of the season and carried over into the post season.

How wacky has the NFL gotten? If either the Steelers or the Jets (add the Eagles if McNabb can't finish out the season) win the Super Bowl, it would be the 4th straight Super Bowl won by a starting QB that wasn't expected to be the starter at the beginning of the season (Warner with the Rams, Dilfer with the Ravens, and Brady with the Patriots). What happened to the Terry Bradshaws, the Joe Montanas, the Troy Aikmans, and the John Elways of the Super Bowl?

That has to be the worst move ever. Give Philly fans an extra 7 1/2 hours to drink and tear apart the nieghborhood before the game? Not a good idea.

Although a Flyers game at 1PM probably necessitated this move. Either way we get the classic South Philly double dip. Tailgate to the hockey game, go to the hockey game, drink more afterwards, hunt rats for dinner in the parking lot, and go to the football game.

Will the Philly local Govt. decide to bomb a neighborhood near the Vet in the days leading to the game, thus providing extra rats scurrying around for pre-game meals?

C'mon. These are Eagles fans we're talking about. They're drinking _now_ in preparation for next weekend.

I took my wife to a Phantoms game last week, and pointed out the new stadium under construction across the street. "That's the new stadium that'll replace the Vet," I explained, "or at least what it looks like BEFORE it's drenched in urine."

Yeah, a night playoff game in Philly is gonna be wild. I was at the Tampa Wild Card game on New Years Eve 2000 and it was absolutely krazy. (and that was a 4:00 game, if I remember correctly) We showed up late morning and the lots were packed.

Welcome to Bizarro World, everybody.

Us Bucs fans up here on the Island and down on the Panhandle will be doing Dirty Birds all week. With an Atlanta win, one guess who gets to host the NFC championship game, should we dispatch the Niners :)
