For someone who was playing a year ago in a league that the NFL was ignoring/laughing at, I'd say this was a well deserved honor. Especially considering that many weren't sure he'd play again this year after what happened mid-season.

Brings to mind the fact that there were a number of players who seemed to come out of nowhere to surprise people this season (Maddox, Todd Heap, AJ Feeley, William Green, etc.). If there were a "Priest Holmes Award" (named for the guy who did what I described just last year), who'd get it?

Maddox is a great choice here. I'm sure more people would have noticed Robert Edwards in Miami if he had gotten more than 20 carries this season...although I believe he finished second in the voting.

Well, where exactly was he that he had to come back? Most improved player's probably the closest thing I can think of for his story.

But notice...since he's become a NFL success, how many have referred to Maddox as the XFL MVP?

At least something good came out of the XFL.

Congrats to Tommy Maddox.

I'd have picked Robert Edwards, too. I mean, HE ALMOST HAD TO HAVE HIS LEG AMPUTATED!!! And he came back to play football.

I think that's bigger than being out of the league, then playing in the XFL.

Sorry I was answering shockdown's Priest Holmes Award Question not saying he should be comeback player of the year. (Even though when I saw him play last year i thought he was nothing, boy i was wrong with that)

Oh, right. Completely missed that part of shockdown's post.

Yeah, I'd probably have to vote for Edwards, personally. But they had two good candidates this year... did Hearst have anyone else to compete with last season?

I'm shocked...SHOCKED, I SAY...that Vince McMahon hasn't tried to take credit for Tommy Maddox's comeback......yet.

After this week's game, I don't think there's any question. Bring on Tennessee.

I shut off the game at the half, turned it on and saw 33 21 with 5:30 left, turned it off again, and turned it on with 3:00 to go and the crowd in a lather. BRING ON ANYONE AT THIS POINT, CUZ THE STEELERS CANNOT BE STOPPED!
