Frist offers 'invaluable' aid to crash victims
Emergency worker: Frist 'a true hero'

Our new Senate Majority leader saves lives in his spare time. What does Tom Daschle do?

Seriously, you can't buy Press like this. How great is it for the GOP that their new leader does something like this? To quote Capt. Ken Kronheim of Broward County Fire Rescue "He sneaked out before he could get any thanks or glory -- a true hero."

Yeah, that will make the Demos smearing of him rather difficult. They can't use the whole "not caring about people" angle. Maybe they can still use the racism card, but to the best of my knowlege, his closet is clean in that regard.
He certainly will be a tough nut to crack for them.

I realize it plays very well in the media, but the guy *is* a medical doctor, you know. He just does what he does. (During that shooting at the capital building a few years back he helped a security guard who was shot and later died.)

The only major thing I don't like about Frist right now is his apparent stance on stem cell research. He reportedly is in favor of using embryonic stem cells from embryos that are set to be discarded. To me that leaves too much room for someone to simply produce a bunch, say they are going to get rid of them, and then use them for whatever purpose. But then again I don't know a whole lot about Frist's position or this issue so I may be wrong.

I forgot but is stem cell research supposed to be used for human cloning?

If so he's against it and human cloning.

Christ - talk about a reach! I mean, damn, the guy owns stock in a company, he is not even involved in their day to day operations, and therefore he MUST know about the fraud they are committing.
Jesus- why does every Democratic attack on a Republican have to START with mudslinging and completely obvious fact manipulation?

It's not just some company, it's his family business. And it's not the fact that he knew or didn't know about the fraud, it's the fact that he took a leading role in legislation that was a clear conflict of interest. Newt Gingrich crucified Jim Wright for a whole lot less. Why does every time a Republican tries to shadily help his buddies when he shouldn't, their first defence is "Democrats are mudslinging?"

See - that is the problem right there. Democrats START with the assumption that every Republican is "shadily helping their friends." It is just like Bush and "Big Oil." Even the vaguest connection is jumped upon as OBSOLUTE PROOF OF WRONGDOING! when more likely there is just a coincidental connection at best.
I mean, you do not see me smearing half the Democrats because of their connection to the Trail Lawyers, or any other nonesense like that. Fact is that all of these guys, regardless of party, are damned rich. They ALL have buisness interests outside of politics, and I am sure that you can make equally shady "connections" about each and every one of them. But when it comes to Republicans, it seems, these very vague and unproven suggestions are immediatly considered fact. That is nothing but bad politics- and pretty digusting at that...

This defense from a party that puts out a "Bill Clinton Death List."

I start with the assumption that all politicians are shadily helping their friends. And it is indeed a damn shame that nowdays both parties' friends are generally business interests instead of their constituents. I don't mind if Republicans put business interests over people, as that's essentially the entire basis of their reason for being. But I do expect more from the Democrats.

Maybe it's because Business gives people work so they can earn a living and feed their families. Did you ever get a paying job from a poor man? I didn't either.

Bah, Moe, you screwed up. Never slip back to those damned Dem/Repub battle lines for your arguments. Stick to your guns, which is presenting the facts:

Frist is in bed with one of the largest medical companies in the country, because it's his family, there's no way he can't be. Yet he still took over the reins on legislation directly affecting his family's business. Even if he was more qualified than anyone to handle it, he should've stepped away from the precedings. Because he didn't, it only serves to make him look bad.
