Never let it be said I'm not above directing you to 411 content. ;-) This list will probably make no sense if you don't go read his intro as well as his other comments, so go give him the hit. Then come back here and we can turn this into one of those HEY EVERYONE HERE'S MY BIG LIST YOU MAKE A BIG LIST TOO AND THEN WE'LL HAVE A GIANT THREAD MADE UP OF BIG LISTS!!!!!!!!!!! OH BOY!!!!!!!!!!!! threads that I'm always hypocritically bitching about.

I thought this was an interesting read. His comments on you were pretty nice, actually.

Only bone to pick: Dean's not in the Top 10! Nor Scaia. I think I would have put Dean up there over Shannon.

Thanks for the link, Chris, as I am not a regular 411 visitor.

Edit: I also want to know how long Dean will gloat being rated higher than Rippa and Schneider? Forever?

You know, between this (and a lot more) reading a bunch of James' new Historical Abstract over my vacation, I'm starting to really notice the "bottom of top 100 lists = eh people" (I'm specifically talking about Christ here), but this does make the Max Bishop of whatever.

I actually thought about this - bored - and guessed I'd end up somewhere around here, so it makes sense abstractly. But in context...hahaha NO.

What was the bribe for you to get 8-9-10 to line up right like that?

Ultimate Warrior, Honky Tonk Man, and Lance Storm are all on the list, but Chris Jericho isn't??? Sure, Jericho's commentaries aren't all that frequent, but he posted the flame that got everyone all tied up in knots for a good week or so.

Of course, Warrior only 40??? That's destrucity, dammit! DESTRUCITY!!!

If Warrior doesn't go into seclusion for years on end, he'll easily move into the Top 15.
Hyatt being 1 is a joke. Top 10 yes, 1 no.
Sean Shannon being near the top 10 is a joke. The only reason anyone went to Rantsylvania was for Keith, and to the nwwwo was for other writers.
Scaia probably should be Top 10, and since he didn't leave the net he should be ahead of Samuda.

I have no problem with Shannon in the top 10. The only issue I have is that I would have dropped Ashish and Widro (blatant homerism!) from the top 10 in order to elevate Scaia and Kunze. Herb was a defining voice in the early days, and really still is the patron saint of smarks everywhere :)

No point in debating a list of the guy's opinions on internet writers, but I'd have to point out that he neglected both RealDeal of WrestleCrap fame and Sushi-X, two writers who were (and still are in RD's case) far more influential than many of the people on the list.

Forgetting Sushi-X I can kinda see, but RD? Yikes.

Bill Milano should've been higher. DDT Digest was one of the best and funniest wrestling webpages of all time.

Also, John Petrie got screwed. For years, he, CRZ and Hyatte were THE must-read Monday recaps.

Two words, one name: Earl Oliver. Earl's tuesday morning reports were fantastic before I ran into the word for word recapping glory of CRZ. Earl always managed to try to bring new writers to add to his variety. I never gathered the stones to try to write for him, but it was the thought that he would give anyone a chance to participate on a more than message board level that I really found welcoming. Back in the day for me, Solie's Vintage Wrestling was one of the three sites I visited, and kept my interest enough to still be around today. For those wondering, the other two were Scoops and Micasa (both linked from Mr. Oliver's site). He welcomed me to his message board with open arms, and it was there that I had my first taste of debating wrestling related topics with others (although I was only about 15 when I started, I must say that I held my own). The discussions were just that, discussions. There were no flame wars or anything immature, as Earl kept a close watch on his guestbook (as both of the Zim brothers do here). I still look back fondly on those days of wCw versus WWF conversation when the nWo was all the rage and Vince was parading around the D.O.A. and Los Bariquas and groups of that sort. Earl is still around, and I still lurk on his site sometimes, and I will always consider Solie's to be home.

Sean Shannon should be top 3. For those of you who missed the classic breakdowns on Delphi, you missed a lot. It was riveting in a pathetic sort of way. He put Hyatte on the map and made him what he is.

Don Becker should be higher for no other reason than he stopped by the Christmas Eve aPa chatroom. But very underrated and my personal favorite recapper.

No Rubio???? Bossman stories and fantasy bookings get no love???? Whasupwitdat????

I've been reading 411 for a while now, and I've been wondering about something... are Hyatte and Flea the same person? They use the same writing style and sentence structure, and they both have little quirks about thier style that just makes me think this.

Also, notice that he didn't list himself in there but Hyatte was his #1 choice.

Hey, I just noticed that Jim Ross isn't listed. Shouldn't he be at least in the top 20 for his weekly Ross Report, which EVERYONE and thier mother reads every friday with out fail.

----------
DR: CRZ wants to lord it over me like a Superbowl trophy. WAIT'LL NEXT YEAR! WHY ARE WE RANKED?! NEXT YEAR!

Sean Shannon should be top 3. For those of you who missed the classic breakdowns on Delphi, you missed a lot. It was riveting in a pathetic sort of way. He put Hyatte on the map and made him what he is.
----------------
DR: Sean Shannon should #1-25. God, when he was completely losing what was left of his grasp of reality, he manically vomited the greatest stuff ever written on the internet. Who could forget the poetry on Seanshannon.org or the stories about going to parties with theatre people? I wanted to drive to whereever he was and hug him and tell that everything was going to be okay. And how was his musical career and how much would you have paid for mp3s of those songs? I don't think they print that much money.

And apparently Eric S. at 411 isn't too happy with being ranked below Dean, either.

"I'll only bitch about three people above me: The Prick and Rasmussen on general principle, and Samuda on the fact that I was the one who killed his style of wrestling news presentation forever."
