White Stripes should be in the top 10.

I'd like to point out the Phantom Planet and Carbon Leaf are way too low on this list for my tastes...

-SuperShaneSpear: AZ actually got pretty close, but AWK, TRUSTcompany, and a bunch of other songs got the nod because of longevity and other stuff. Not to say it wasn't a good song. Oh, and #101 was Beulah's "Gravity's Bringing Us Down", for those who care.

-ManiacalClown: Tool sucks! They haven't had a single I liked since "Aenima."

-Bullitt: Okay, but as soon as J. Geils gets his intro back.

-tomvejada: Probably, I was somewhat surprised to see they didn't make the top ten when I was done with the list. Chalk it up to video overkill.

-aaaaand Grimis: Phantom Planet is suprisingly low, yes, though Carbon Leaf's probably higher than they have any right to be. It's a good song, but 2002 had a surprising amount of good songs, as evidenced by how low "California" wound up. Yep.

You confused the song with the album. You've lost any last thread of respect I had left. :|

Actually, I believe Feely was saying that they haven't had any good singles since that album came out. I enjoyed some stuff from the last record, but it got tiresome quite quickly.

I'm gonna have to back the Clown up on this one. In my opinion, Tool has only gotten better with each album. So there!

Out of curiosity, is this a purely subjective list or based on the weekly charts for the year?

And overall, not a bad list, though I agree it smacks with some elitism; the "if it's mainstream, it sucks" philosophy, if you will. (As your list only has about five songs that were legitimate radio hits.)

This is subjective, the chart-based chart is coming whenever I feel like typing everything out, now that I've done the last chart for the year. And a lot of stuff got overexposed (Jimmy Eat World I'm looking at YOU), so yeah, the chart will lean towards more obscure stuff.
