Does anyone else feel all sick inside at the whole "HBK passes the torch to HHH" bullshit we were treated to last night on RAW?

Is it me or is this some sort of egofest for both guys? Poor Flair ends up having to put both these guys over at the same damn time.

Let's look at this logically. HBK stops wrestling for around 5 years. His spinal column is 60% pudding and he steps away semi-gracefully to ensure that he can still pat himself on the back when the moment arises.

So his little buddy goes on to beat the system, marry the boss's daughter, do some decent wrestling, and politically maneuver himself into the top slot.

Then HHH gets hurt and his "game" hasn't been the same since. However he still has the political power he had before his injury and decides to lay back and rest on his laurels (and Stephanie's giant breasts).

The company splits into two separate brands and HHH slides himself into the top spot on the Monday night show after Austin gets the axe (and to avoid having to job during Brock Lesner's monster Goldberg-esque push). He uses his backstage clout to have the newly created title handed to him and summarily buries anyone who threatens to steal his heat. Jericho, Booker T, Kane, and RVD all fall by the wayside.

In the midst of this, he fucks a manequin in a coffin to show what a true ratings draw he is.

HHH begins to feel the heat of his actions. The fans start to lose respect for him. The marks think he's a wimp because he didn't win the title legitimately and the smarts think he's an asshole for not putting anyone over.

What can he do to restore the fan and company's faith in him? He has to job out the title, but to who? He certainly can't choose a young up and comer who can maybe bring some prestige to this madly tainted title...that would be beneath him!

The lightbulb appears above his head! He'll call Shawn! He has no problem jobbing to his old buddy and he figures that he can drop the title for a couple of months and win it back in spectacular fashion at a major PPV event. It's perfect!

Of course that's not good enough, we need to make sure everyone knows that he is "The Man" now. He picks up Ric Flair as a valet and they book him to make a huge speech about how he once realized that Shawn Michaels was a better wrestler than he is and likewise Shawn should feel the same way about HHH.

So let me get this straight. Shawn, who hasn't wrestled in years and is (at best) 50% the wrestler he was before his injury is going to come back just so he can bask in Flair's admiration and then go ahead and pass the torch to HHH and help legitimize Hunter's next title run?

Yeah, I buy that. They should just use that torch to burn up the WWE title because that's about all it's worth these days.

Good to see the anti HHH comments spreading across the board. I was tired of only having to put up with them in a couple sections...

You're right Michaelangelo. There is no good reason to trot Flair out there to pass the torch to HHH. But I'm taking it all in stride. Raw is and has been the joke show for months now. Don't get me wrong though. I take my Smackdown seriously! Really i do.

First of all, this is my opinion in a column form in the columns forum. Ya don't like it, don't read it.

Second, if Trips is taking a lot of heat, maybe there's a reason for it. If the shoe fits...

I agree with every word. You put it down perfectly. It's just really unfortunate the WWE doesn't give a third of the chance or opportunity to someone else in the company.

I still roll my eyes thinking of Flair saying that Michaels needs to pass the torch to a guy who's been pushed harder then anyone for 3 years and been the main focus point for this entire year. But HHH still needs a rub from someone. I guess sponging off Foley could only last so long. Well I'm glad on Raw that Ross reminded everyone that HHH kicked Austin's ass clean 2 years ago, because HhH been living off the past reputation for the last 11 months.

I didn't even know HBK had a torch to pass. That is what gets me about it. He hasn't been around for 5 years. He has no torch. WWE has no torch bearer. RAW sure as hell down't have anyone that resembles a torch bearer. Besides (oh God, here I go), the way he's been pushed, I thought HHH was their #1 guy. So how is he supposed to receive something he already has?

Dammit, I just confused myself.

Am I the only one who remembers Flair in the first 2 weeks of his return last year talking about how Austin was now 'The Man' in pro wrestling. Funny how that 4 years of profit disappeared in passing the torch from HBK to Trip.
