1wrestling.com sez:

"According to sources, Matt Hardy was said to be upset that he got his match changed at the Smackdown tapings last Tuesday night in Dallas. Matt was originally scheduled to take on Rey Mysterio Jr. on Smackdown. Instead, Albert got the match because Vince McMahon thought it would look better if a big guy like Albert "injured" Rey Jr. Matt in turn took Albert's match on Velocity against Chuck Palumbo which aired tonight."

It would have made perfect sense to me to have an issue between Matt Hardy and Rey Mysterio, especially after the tag match the week before. A feud was only logical, but wait...wait...

That Matt Hardy...he may be over and entertaining...but he's not a HOSS!! Albert is a HOSS, BY GAWD!!

Any thoughts? Maybe 1wrestling's just spreading conspiracy theories. But this certainly sounds like it's something Vince McMahon would do these days.

You know, I commented while watching Smackdown that it should have been Mattitude. It wouldn't have been out of character at all for him to have used a weapon to neutralize Rey. It would have gotten him over more as a heel, and it would have set up a Matt/Edge match at the PPV instead of Edge/Albert, and as someone who's GOING to the PPV, I really don't wanna see Edge/Albert.

And besides, how much history to Matt and Edge have? Woulda been great. Instead we get Albert. Meh.

Well, on the bright side...

When Albert's push fails yet again, he'll be shunted back down to Velocity.

And it will fail. Trust me. Albert truly and utterly sucks grapefruits. Zero charisma, zero talent. He needs to be gone entirely, if you ask me.

Matt, meanwhile, owns.

I'd have preferred to see Cena and B2 take him out after CHEATING TO WIN-that way Vince could still get his big man fetish out of the way whilst still booking a decent PPV match.

And don't put too much stock in the Matt Hardy theory...it IS 1bullshit, after all.

Velocity was actually good last night without the presence of Albert. They should sign that guy who wrestled John Cena last night to a contract, he was impressive.

Regardless of whether or not the Matt Hardy rumor is true, he should have been the one to take out Rey. It would have gotten him over as a heel and an eventual feud with Rey would have put them both over.

This Albert push will fail just like his other pushes.

I think there's a WWE by-law that says they must try and fail to get Albert over at least once a year, it's been since last summer when they inexplicably slapped the Intercontinental Championship on him. It's December - they had to do something drastic.

D'oh. Even if that wasn't the original plan, it would have been much more entertaining for Matt Hardy (version 1) to be involved. Instead we get the hip-hop hippo.

Yeah that Paul London guy was really good, so good that I actually remembered his name (well I remembered London part I thought it was John I looked up a recap on the net lol). In any case that was a good match with Cena. His dropkicks are funky, he does a backflip and lands on his stomach everytime he hits a dropkick.

I don't think Albert sucks as bad as most do. But I do believe the Matt deserves it and would have been more interesting television if he done it. So much back story with him and Edge but this time having the face/heel roles reversed also no tag partners. Could have been really interesting. But the WWE rather stall Edge's career for ANOTHER month.

In my estimation, it's yet another classic example of how WWE simply fails to make logical decisions, whether or not the iwrestling rumor is true or not.

What's the point of pushing Albert when, for one thing, he's been on Velocity for all this time and then all of a sudden, he's on SD! and he BEATS Rey Misterio? Maybe I missed something, but did WWE even build to Albert moving up the ranks to get onto the big program?

Matt Hardy needs to be pushed. Period. In my opinion, if you place him into programs with the "SmackDown! Six" he'd not only start churning out awesome matches with the lot of them, he'd also become an even better wrestler, and then he could develop the "WWE Main Event style" and headline PPVs at smome point. Oh, nevermind. Wishful thinking. He'd probably just get a Last Ride through a table and then get run over by UT on his bike.

Ugh. I'll use one of WWE's catchphrases to sum up my opinion on this-- they just don't "Get It."

although I am not one of the Albert haters, Matt would have been a better choice. Matt has been seven different levels of awesome since his heel change. I could have dug a Matt/Edge feud. I guess we'll see how good Albert and Edge are on the upcoming PPV. You never know...it could be surprising!

The really sad thing about it is this (doesn't involve Albert at all): Matt appears to be trying to improve and seems to be getting his new persona over. At the same time, his brother is getting worse and seems to have no desire. Yet, if the situation arose, Vince would probably not cut the legs out from Jeff Hardy in this situation, but does to Matt Hardy. On the bright side, it could have been worse. It could have been a returning Bradshaw taking out Rey, and then the evil Texan Hoss gimmick could have come back.

Paul London did rock the house on Velocity. The dropkicks were cool, even though they were used a bit too many times. But the Springboard Shooting Star Press is what I really liked. He probably was an indy guy that we will never see again.

Okay, lame joke, I'm sorry... (besides, Triple H is WAY more evil than Satan...)

I take pretty much everything I read online with a grain of salt anyway, seeing as how the anti-WWF/E bias has existed on the internet wrestling scene...well, ever since there's BEEN an internet wrestling scene. WWF/E is the big fed, so it's not "cool" to be a WWF/E fan.

I would've preferred Matt Hardy than Albert.

I guess that means Matt will once again not wrestle at Armageddon.

Obviously you weren't paying a whole ton of attention in the mid-90's, when the anti-WCW backlash hit hard. For a few years in there WWF became the big promotion of choice, as seen in the fact they took home Best Promotion during the height of WCW's reign in the RSPW awards, the home of all things smarky. Really the huge backlash didn't start to hit so much until there was nothing left to look at. When they had the whole world to themselves, and seemingly tried their hardest to foul it up at every turn, the net's attitude seemed to take a foul turn towards a lot of their activities. Of course, considering the loss of 5 million or so viewers since their peaks, the smarks must not be the only ones who weren't too happy with what was going on.

Well, during that period of time when *WCW* was considered the top fed, people could safely back the WWF because it wasn't the "cool" thing to do at the time. Once the WWF reclaimed the top spot, things went back to the way they were.

And even during that period of time, there was a fair amount of people who were crowing about the WWF getting stomped in the ratings.

So I remember the mid-'90s quite well, as a matter of fact...

Apparently, Albert is being built up so mthat he can feud with the returning Undertaker in early 2003! That will be... fun.

So, let's get this right. Matt is good in the ring, has a decent gimmick and is getting over as a cocky heel, so obviously, he needs to get knocked down to the Smackdown B show. Meanwhile, his smackhead brother gets to appear on Raw constantly and gets pushes whenever he turns up to work with the ability to focus. Maybe Vince is pushing Jeff because he's still pissed his producers went to a crowd shot at Over The Edge.
