Right now, I'd say it is pretty even for both men. They are stuck in holding patterns. There is more potential for Matt to move beyond it though, but he's stuck being a comedic heel, and on occasion not even appearing on his roster's A-show. At least Matt has stopped trying to kill himself for a pop on a weekly basis. Jeff is at least a consistent face on RAW, but his body-paint schtick, combined with scary sloppiness is making him look more like a pick for a 2003 Dead Pool as opposed to moving to up the card.

Jeff looked pretty good this week (he even hit a clean Railrunner) and the holiday break is coming up, so hopefully he'll get rested up and come back strong. Not that that will improve his character any but at least he'll look better in the ring.

Jeff was kinda cool when he was feuding with the Undertaker and killing himself in new and inventive ways every week. Since then his ring works taken a bit of a nose dive.

Matt on the other hands looked pretty good, if underused, on SD, hence the love for Mattitude on this board

They're both in pretty bad, but for different reasons.

For Jeff, it's been obvious. The guy's in bad shape and he's falling apart more and more everyday. He needs some time off desperately, because he's seriousy wasting everybody's time by giving so much when he's getting nothing in return. Hey, where's everybody who used to talk about "Undertaker's rub"?

Matt has plenty of MATTITUDE~!, but it rarely gets put to good use. Despite being one of the most entertaining parts of Smackdown, Matt hasn't been getting anywhere. He's constantly losing matches or being made to look like a moron when he gets tossed through a wall by Brock or pounded into dirt by Scott Steiner.

Once Matt stops using the same voice inflections as the Hurricane (maybe it's just an NC thing) I'll give him the nod.

Considering Jeff Hardy's at the point where he comes out to his music and then stands on the ring apron without tagging in (ironically, much like Andre towards the end of his career), I go with Matt. He's almost in the position Chavo Jr. was in during the last months of WCW. No longer having a relative around, he was able to overcome the idiocy of the MIA gimmick to become one of the few bright spots of WCW at the end. I don't know if Matt has it in him to have good/very good singles matches, but lets see if it works, and maybe he can be there to fill in the holes when injuries/trades occur on SD.
As for Jeff, give him six months off with pay, and if he doesn't show a committment to the business when that time is over, let him go.

I'm going to go with jeff. If only because RAW is much more desperate for talent. I don't see Matt getting elevated anytime soon with the wealth (well, relative wealth compared to RAW) of talent on SD!

I say Matt is in the better position. He is in the position he needs to be in right now. He has a great character but he needs to learn how to wrestle in singles matches and improve upon his basics and his storytelling abilities. The fact that he is willing to move away from the spot heavy Hardy Boyz style is a good first step. Having wrestle on Velocity with occasional appearances on Smackdown is a good idea for him right now. Once he improves on the fundamentals he could move higher up in the midcard and take himself to the next level.

I definitely agree that Matt is in far better career shape than Jeff-- ironic, because the prevailing wisdom used to be that Jeff was destined for great things. But damn if Jeff doesn't need some serious time off, because I think the kid's seriously screwed up.

Sky's the limit for Matt, on the other hand. As he gets more confident on the mic, and moves away from the Hardy Boyz style into a “main event” style, there's no telling how far he can go.

I always thought that Matt had the brighter future, just because his wrestling/career style is one of a slow build, where Jeff's is the rock star "Better to burn out than fade away". Everything about Jeff screams "flash in the pan". Matt can go at his style longer career-wise, plus will have to deal with less injuries keeping him out of feuds as time goes on.

Until either guy bulks up to 300 pounds and becomes slow and boring, neither guy will make it to the main event. Vince is too busy creaming himself over Big Show, Albert, Batista, Rikishi, Bradshaw, and Brock Lesnar to care about what the fans want.

How can I put this without sounding overly morbid? I think Matt Hardy may be in line for a major "sympathy push" in the next few years if things keep going the way they're going.

In the past few years, we've seen drug addictions hit the likes of Eddy Guerrero and Brian Christopher to the point they were terminated from the company. Still, it was never readily apparaent, and if I wasn't online, I'd have had no idea why Eddy suddenly disappeared one day last spring, in the midst of a pretty cool angle with, oddly enough, The Hardy Boyz.

You don't have to be a 'Net Fan to realize that Jeff Hardy has, at the very least, a serious addiction to painkillers (big shock for the guy who jumps headfirst through tables for a living, I know), and if they don't give this guy some serious time off, I think we've got another Brian Pillman on our hands, and no one wants to see that.

The man's given more of himself to the in-ring product that anyone on the roster over the last ten years, save Mick Foley. Get him the help he needs.

I'll admit when I'm wrong and I was totally wrong on this. I always thought Matt Hardy was the third wheel in Team Xtreme (Jeff being unique and Lita being the popular one and Matt just being there). But ever since he was put on a different show then his brother and not overshadowed by his girlfriend. Matt has really been allowed to shine. The problem I had with Matt was that he was just so bland, but now he's such a fun character and I don't know if his wrestling has improved but all of a sudden I'm more into his matches, hell it could be just because I actually care now.

I just wonder when Lita comes back will she get her thong-wearing heat stealing claws on Matt and drain him of all his Mattitude (image removed)

Jeff was always the popular dare devil while Matt did the better wrestling of the two. Even when they were just them Hardy Boyz, both being totally extreme.

Matt has stated he has goals, wants to be the champ.
Jeff only says he wants to do crazy stuff, feel that rush.

Matt will outlast Jeff (alive or not) for a long long time.
