Well, I certainly have learned some interesting things from various title history sites. According to Peroresu.com, Lou Thesz gained the NWA World Heavyweight Championship belt on 11/28/49. He rattled off a damn impressive undefeated streak that I think pretty much has to be the best in history.

Until a DQ loss to Leo Nomelenni on 3/22/55, Thesz had run up a streak of 936 consecutive wins without a loss (not including draws). I figure that has to be the record. Can anybody prove me wrong? The only two other guys I think who can come close would be Bruno Sammartino or Hulk Hogan.

Sammartino was champion for 8 years, so he might have a chance.

If Thes was undefeated for 6 years (a little less actually, but 6 for this purpose) for 936 matches, that only comes out to 156 matches a year. For Bruno to have matched that, he would have to have won 117 per year durfing his title reign (if he ha`d no DQ losses that is).

I don't think Hogan touched that one... He suffered a FEW disqualification or countout losses during his title reign, and I have a hard time believing over his four years that he wrestled 250 times a year.

So I guess Sammartino is the guy to be checking into at this point, because you're wasting your time with Hogan.

I thought that Andre the Giant went something like 7 years without losing or did he have DQ and countouts in there or am I just thinking of someone else?

That's right...before Andre/Hogan at WM3, they hyped Andre as undefeated for so many years (I forget how many). However, they also said the two had never fought before, which was untrue as they had fought in like 1981 or something. I don't know if the streak was made up by the WWF to make Hogan look more incredible or if it was true.

Hmm, I dunno, Chris. I remember hearing something about how Hogan only lost by pinfall three times during his entire WWF career after the birth of Hulkamania. I don't know about DQ or countout losses, but I know he ended up winning probably 95% of the time.

Yokozuna? Or are we talking clean pins only? Hogan must have lost 4 or 5 times at least because he's a former five time WWF champion. Off the top of my head his losses for the belt were:

Reign 1 to Andre
Reign 2 to Ultimate Warrior
Reign 3 to Undertaker
Reign 4 ended after Tuesday in Texas controversy (stripped of belt)
Reign 5 to Yoko.

But I wouldn't take that as gospel.

I doubt Hogan wrestled 100 times a year in his first reing much less 250. I only remember seeing Hogan on Superstars actually wrestle a few times. He would wrestle on PPVs and SNME that were televised. I couldn't guess how many house shows he did but HH was never w great worker. Plus I bet that when he was feuding with whatever fat guy there would be a lot of DQ's and CO's. You know hype the John Studd got a victory by CO over Hogan watch SNME and see if Hulkamania survives. I miss seeing Hogan get killed by Studd, Andre, and whatever other fatfuck. But I don't miss seeing him Hulk up and then pose for 20 minutes to end a PPV so it all works out. Hopefully HH will be jobbing to Maven on Jacked but that is too much to ask for.

Off the top of my head, I can think of The Genius that defeated Hogan via countout on an edition of SNME - and I'm willing to bet he wasn't the only one.

For some reason, DiBiase's name is floating around my head, though that might be wrong so DEFINITELY do not take it as fact until someone that knows can confirm.

Hogan also did a pinfall job to Jacques Rougeau at what I believe was Jacque's retirement show (or something like that - I am blanking and too lazy to find the exact info.)

He remains one of the only guys who has never had to return the job to Hogan.

From what I remember Hogan never got a pin on the Warrior or Goldberg, and maybe not on the Undertaker either.

Hogan pinned the Ultimate Warrior at one of the Halloween Havoc PPV's (97 or 98), so he did get the Warrior job back.

Before WM3 the wwf was claiming that Andre "hadn't lost a match in 15 years." And that Hogan and Andre had never had a match. If i'm not mistaken they had some matches in the old AWA. I know for a fact that they wrestled in NJPW a few times back when the IWGP title first came out ('81). I lived in Japan at the time and saw a couple of them. Let me just say that Andre didn't win all those matches in Japan as Hogan was super over - try to find the story of Inoki having problems getting the IWGP title off of Hogan back then, pretty interesting stuff...

Also, I know that Andre had jobbed to Lawler a couple of times too. And lets not forget the several house shows that had Andre doing the job via count out/DQ to the Macho Man (...if i remember correctly, but this may have been after WM3, i'm getting old and my memory isn't what it used to be, sorry)

So in the 15 years before their WM3 match, Andre had lost to Hogan, Inoki, Lawler (and god know's who else).

That is all

Yeah, didn't Hogan (alledgedly) try to get Yoko into WCW, just for that reason? I could swear I read that somewhere.

Yeah, I heard that too, but then Yoko died and the plan (if there ever was one) never happened.

I'm pretty sure Hogan never beat Goldberg. The only people I remember ever pinning Goldberg are Nash, Booker T, and maybe someone else like Bret Hart or Sid. I'm almost positive Hogan didn't, however, because once the winning streak was ended by Nash, Goldberg and Hogan never really spent much time active on the WCW roster at the same time.

Bret Hart got a couple pins on Goldberg.

Does nobody remember Wrestlemania 9 (OK, it might be 8)? I know Yoko pinned Hogan twice, but Hogan got one on him. That's all I was looking for.

Can anyone remember when he beat the Undertaker? I mean, it wouldn't surprise me at all, I just can't come up with a time.
