I see a few posts about Dexley's Midnight something or other...

Go re-read the list, and look up the name "Keeper".

....

While I'm in the thread - it seems some people are REALLY itchy to be Wiener Of The Day. I suggest CRZ try and see if people would pay MONEY to be just that.

But just out of curiosity, since Weinerville has no "Stephanie"... who do you have to sleep with to cement your place at the top of the WOTD ladder?

We do have one, right here:

I doubt she'd let any of us unwashed pigs touch her though.

Damn skippy.

I know that Wiener of the Day means NOTHING, but that's what makes it so fun to actually BE WotD. It bothers me when non-posters get selected. I propose that the code be changed to eliminate those who are not of at least Jobber rank. People who have NEVER posted probably have never checked who was WotD (I guess they may just be lurking).

Sincerely,
The Sham (former Wiener of the Day)

Notice how very few Walking! or Jobbers To the Stars are getting Wiener of the Day? I think it's the Reverse Glass Ceiling, keeping the random randomness of the Wiener of the Day randomizer of finding us high above the post totals of the one-hit wonders and non-posters!

Oh, I think I get it now...it's because I'm CANADIAN, isn't it? I haven't learned how to post Wienerville-style, have I? Well, I can't help that! And I won't let that step on my dreams of Wiener of the Day! Come, my brothers and sisters, let us break down the glass ceiling and take what is rightfully ours...our freedom!

[Joking, of course]

Its reverse discrimination based on that whole random statistic. Given that the posters who have posted less than 10 times and are not even Guest Commentators (about 538) outnumber the posters who have posted more than 503 times and are at least JTTS (about 35) by 500, it makes sense that the JTTS's would be held down by random selection. I say eliminate the random selection and let HHH pick the weiner of the day by made the most posts against him or his girlfriend in that day.

Edit:

Thinking about this, the stats you present are misleading a bit. You are tallying the WotDs and total posts from todays lists, but not from when they occured. I don't remember when WotD started, but I'm sure that people who may be JTTS today were not then, and therefore, could not be affected by being a JTTS and being held down. I wonder if we can clearly depict someone being selected less and less frequently as a WotD as their post count increases. (Thus, non-posters have the greatest advantage, since a) they belong to one of the largest groups, and b) their post count never changes.)

Of course, this is all random, so in effect, I'm just babbling.

Yes, you can do things like swim in trees when you're high and everything rhymes despite the fact that it doesn't rhyme and your poetry is your own, man, and no one can ever change that.

While being a WotD is something special for you people, I can't really be bothered by such things anymore. Way back on July 18th 1983, I recieved in the mail a 'NO PRIZE' for sending in a letter that was printed in an issue of the Avengers. After that, everything else that could ever happen to me is just gravy or icing...

Ok... now who wants to touch me!

Admit it, people.

Deep down.... you know you're enjoying getting held down by the random selector. After all, if one day it just showed up "everyone", where'd be the fun in that? Then we couldn't complain.

And yes, Freeway, is is because you're Canadian.

I'm still waiting for Keeper to post that first post. I know it will be something that will probably change the world. I mean, what else can you expect from a Five-Time, Five-Time, Five-Time, Five-Time, Five-Time, Wiener of the day?

Keeper's here almost every day, actually (or at least when I check up on him, his "last visit" date is always close to the current one) - you could always send a PM or an IM (AIM screen name in profile) if you were REALLY curious/bored, but I try to only encourage harrassment of the people who post WAY too much instead of the people who don't post. ;-)

Everyone should harass Keeper until he posts on this thread just to get him out of that non-poster status and then he might not be WotD any more. Just a thought...

If we can get Keeper to post, then perhaps he can be our documented case where he was selected x number of times as a non-poster, and we can then wait to verify if he will be selected that many number of times as a poster at different levels.

When I was in Kindergarten we had this thing called child of the day, where our teacher would *randomly* spin her pen around a list of the class, and then whoever it stopped pointing to was the child of the day. However, no one got to be child of the day again until everyone was child of the day at least once. Would anyone be happier if we had to sit through everyone before people could be re-selected as weiner of the day, or would everyone be happier if they got to be weiner of the day?

Also, this thread is highly discriminatory against non-posters like Keeper. We can talk about them and speculate as much as we want, but due to their status as non-posters, they can never stand up to defend themselves. We should allow them to be able to post without losing their status.

Na- if we do that, then us "cool -never-been-Weiner-of-the-Days" will lose OUR status. What if you do not want that lofty honor?
