I learned that Jericho did beat HHH before on RAW in State College PA, the first RAW that aired on The superdoper NEW TNN.

Jericho was forced to release the title 5 min later back to HHH.

Thanks for keeping this on record, for the WWF and Jericho himself forgot.

Uhhh, what?

Jericho "won" the title for 5 minutes in April 2000.

The WWF went to the NEW TNN in September 2000.

How do the two go together at all???

it was in State College PA, at least I got that part right,

I checked back on the input and find it was during the M&H era.

Like Paul Heyman would say "Does it really matter JR?"

ohhhh yes - I'd quite forgotton it was H he "borrowed" the title from that night. I'm sure this will be brought up at some point.

Seems like that'd be hard to do, even with the WWF's revisionist history.

"Hey Triple H, here's some footage of me beating you for the WWF title in April of 2000. You can clearly see that I pinned you in the middle of the ring after a Lionsault. While that alone must be pretty embarassing for you, it must be even moreso since you came out here last week bragging and boasting about the fact that you're the one guy I haven't beaten."

Triple H stands in the ring, mouth agape, as drool runs down his chin.

Actually, HHH mentioned specifically that the win was to be reversed and the match was to be declared as never having happened, as is evident from this quote, borrowed from CRZ's April 17, 2000 RAW recap:

_______________________
"Now - you heard that, it was a fast count! The official referee of that match said you screwed me - now Earl, I want you, in front of the whole world, and in front of these idiots here, to tell everybody that you - shut the hell up - that you are going to reverse that decision - that I AM THE World Wrestling Federation champion - that that match with Chris Jericho never took place - these people didn't see a damn thing - it will be stricken from the record books - it NEVER EVER happened - Earl, reverse that decision - NOW. Come on, Earl! You know it's right!"

"NO!"

Shane's ready to bust him up, but Hebner apparently thinks better of it and asks him to hold it. About a hundred times. "Holditholditholdit - hold it! I'll reverse the decision...on one term. That is - nobody touches me as long as I'm a WWF referee, as long as my life, and that goes for YOU - YOU - and YOU - that you'll NEVER put your damn hands on me again!" "Let me get this straight - you'll reverse the decision as long as, while you're a World Wrestling Federation official, we never ever harm you or touch you again. That right? Then you've got a deal. Now, you tell me - are you gonna reverse that decision?" "Yes I am."

So the question is, do we count this Dusty finish as a win, loss, or No Contest for Y2J? Seems like the WWF could easily explain it away if they needed to.

Yeah, I had to go back and read the same report to see how he won (I have no significant memory).

To me, IT HAPPENED. I can live with the "If it didn't happen on tv" thing, but COME ON. And if they used Hunter's explanation to get out of it, which would be the only way, wouldn't that just make him look MORE like a bitch whiner who, if he can't win, will take his ball and go home?

It would be cool if somehow Jericho got HHH to hit Hebner, and then played that footage back and had the match re-instated, making him a TWO time WWF champion.

You have to keep reading, though. HHH *fired* Hebner right after he reversed the decision - then they punked him out.

Yes, but then Linda McMahon gave him his job back. So it could still work, but I don't know what the laws are like for verbally binding agreements, in PA....

If Jericho were to have the decision reversed, HHH would have had to regain the title at some point... when would that be? Plus, if he added a title reign to his resume, he'd also have to add one to HHH's when he regained the title.

Hope that made sense.

I still think they should play the footage, though, that would be beyond cool. Unfortunately, they're pushing HHH as the face in this situation, and playing that footage would mean a role reversal for both men.

You have the look of a man who accepts what he sees because he is expecting to wake up. Ironically, this is not far from the truth.
