I think i'll miss Scott, if only for the entertainment value he brought to the show. Maybe he'll show up in All Japan or something.

And, I agree, the contracts are his and Matt's right now. (Although, if I remember correctly, everyone was sure that the male contract on Tough Enough I was going to Greg at this point, and I don't think Maven had even had very much face time yet.)
Show's gonna lose something without Scott, I think. I have a feeling it'll wind up like those last few shows after Hawk left last year (with the major difference being that I don't hate everyone on Tough Enough III.) | Rex

For some reason my fear was that DeMott or Ivory would say, "Matt was crying like a baby, maybe we should cut him." I think the timing on the Scott cut was perfect. He left while people still liked him and before he seriously hurt anyone. His act would have gotten old pretty soon.
The competition is shaping up well. I think it's going to be a real fight between Jonah, Matt and John for the two spots. What's interesting and also making it more difficult to predict is that we've seen almost nothing in terms of promo abilities out of these kids. I know it's early, but they shouldn't wait too long. For anyone who says promos shouldn't matter, I give you Chris Nowinski, Jackie Gayda and Linda Miles.
I'd be curious to know if it was Big's or Jonah's idea to have everyone say something nice to him. That aspect of it turned a decent practical joke into great television. | It's False

Bite your tongue! Don't put Chris Harvard in the same class as Jackie and Linda, the Tough Enough 2 busts (in more ways than one)! Christopher Nowinski happens to draw a lot of heat with his promos, whether it be cheap heat or not, and he's improving everyday! I'll go as far as to say Nowinski can outduel Jonah on the mic, because Chris has that Harvard intellect! | Parts Unknown

I think it would be awesome if Matt and Jonah won and became a tag team. They have a strong bond, which we saw last night during the joke. The chemistry could translate into the ring.
I think John and Jonah will get the contracts, but Matt will be signed as well (ala Nidia, Maven and Harvard Chris). | Bullitt

I actually think that would be the smartest idea, don't put too much pressure right away on TE guys to be singles stars, let them learn as tag team competitors, where there is more room to learn and grow...

He actually was kind of hurt (dizziness and head pain) and went to the hospital for an MRI. Turns out he had some kind of mild, mild brain injury that would require medication but would allow him to continue to wrestle.
He put on a neckbrace and head bandages and had Big help him into Trax. He looked all pitiful and made it seem like he was absolutely going to die.
But I won't ruin it further. You must see it to believe it. Jonah's a better actor than 98% of the WWE roster. | vacheroi

I really think the show would have got more interesting if they cut Kelly. She has no athletic ability(half the cast said so) and doesn't look to have any acting skills. It seems to everyone like they're going to take two guys anyway so why keep Kelly around. It would also show girls who are going to try out next time that making the show doesn't mean you can slack off and while the other girls drop like flies.

They showed quite a bit of group interaction after the rib and some interview segments, and nobody came off as mad at all. In fact, some commented that the rib actually brought the group closer.

Speaking of Matt, he was a lot more visible and had a much higher profile in this week's episode than he did at any other time in the show. Dude, I totally would have been pissed at Kelly if she made me do all the work that Matt had to do in that heavy bag challenge. He ended up doing more work than everybody else what with all the push-ups, and then having to run out to Kelly and help her with the bag. And yet, he didn't even say a single bad thing about her! He's a better man that I am (or at least a quieter one)!
I'm going to miss Scott. I mean, I knew he wouldn't get a contract, but to me he always seemed like more of mascot to the kids than another competitor.

Hells yeah. How sad is it that the first thing I said after the Scott cut was "shit, now he's NEVER gonna get laid by some hot girl in Iceland, who would go for him just because he doesn't look like the other guys there?" (Blame Details, who said this sort of thing in an article two years ago, for that idea.)

Jonah's hilarious rib is brought to you by the same people who thought taking a shit in Sable's suitcase was the ultimate in satire. But other than the late, lamented Scott, Jonah's the only one with any personality at all, so I don't see him going anywhere. Matt is the only one with a "look", but he's quiet so maybe his personality will manifest itself in coming weeks. He's proved himself to be a leader with his actions in the mountains with Kelly and with his heartfelt reactions to Jonah's "injury". I'm kind of bored this year, especially with the trainers. I felt they should have taken advantage of Dreamer and DDP's appearances by having them relate "in detail" thier difficult roads to the big time, but admittedly, 30 minutes is a tight window.

I think there's clearly a lot of "storytelling" done with the editing. If they gave us the winner at the beginning, & pushed him all the way through, we'd be bored by the end. And we have to try to fit in something interesting about everybody before they get cut, so its only natural that they'd use stuff about the ultimate winners sparingly early on. In that respect, I think your comment is probably correct about Jonah not "going anywhere". And I'm guessing that Matt isn't actually as quiet as what we've been shown.
Actually, Eric is the one that comes across to me as totally personality-free. Pretty much any time he appears on my TV, I think "Oh yeah, that's the other guy -- the one I never remember."

Yeah, I think its a combination of the "30 minutes" constraint, plus the target audience for the show. I'm sure that both DDP & Dreamer talked about a lot more than we saw. Granted, many of us (here) would be interested in seeing a lot more of that stuff, but the editors know that their MTV audience doesn't want to see old farts lecturing. ("... 5 miles, in the snow, uphill both ways, just for the priveledge of ...")

I think though, that the trainers like him, but not quite as much as they like Matt and John. I can see John and Matt getting the contracts, but Jonah still getting hired, ala Chris Harvard.
Speaking of the trainers... have they shown Ivory speaking yet this season? I'm not sure they have... what's with that severely-edited role? |
