Anyone that can answer this - well, I will owe them my life, senor.

Here's the problem that started about 2 weeks ago...

When I try to play a DVD movie, the disc loads fine and actually plays. It goes through the FBI Warning and all that stuff without a hitch, however, once it gets to the previews, or title menu, or first part of the movie, it starts getting fuzzy and the screen starts rolling, like a tracking problem on a VCR. The actual movie continues to play but it is out of focus and fuzzy and occasionnally blacks out for a few seconds at a time.

All my games play fine and a I've noticed a couple of my other type DVDs (ie, Eagles "hell freezez over" concert) work fine. But the movie DVDs all do this weird fuzzy thing.

Oh yeah, the audio is fine as well, it's just the video.

Sounds like Macrovision protection.

Are you running your PS2 through your VCR? If so, that's the issue. Run it straight out to the TV instead.

I have some SERIOUS Macrovision on my PS2 DVD Player, and I've never ran it through a VCR.

I haven't had a problem with the DVD feature, and I run through my VCR.

Now it all makes sense ... and it probably depends on what VCR you are running through.

I've always had mine running through a VCR but recently got a new VCR .. that's about the time the errors started happening.

Thank you Wienerville. I will be forever grateful.
