I thought, and hope people are marking out like crazy. Tes Stone Cold pleaded no contest. Yes he has a one year probation, but the key here is, he wants to resurrect his career!! I'm a big Austin mark (and proud of it ;)),
but this has got to be good news for fans all around the world. I say it's just a matter of time...

Since he's on probation, will that mean no beer drinking for the rattlesnake?

Just to put a few things in perspective. Austin committed the assault AFTER he left the WWF/E. His leaving had nothing to do with him using Debra as a punching bag. He still has the potential of being a PR nightmare if you bring him back immediately after he pleads No Lo. If he does come back, I'd really love to see his first conversation with Good Ol' Backstabbing J.R. That could actually cause Austin to violate his probation though.

Looks like that.

"Assistant Bexar County District Attorney Scott Simpson said, “"He can't pick up any more offenses. "He cannot demonstrate any aggressive behavior toward his wife. He can't drink alcohol. If he wants to leave the county, he has to get permission from the probation office through the judge."

Take away Austin's beer? Why not take away Superman's cape or Green Lantern's ring while you're at it!

In all seriousness, if ever there was a time for Austin to come back, it would be at the Royal Rumble. After all, he did say he already entered himself.

Yes, that would have the same effect as the time Cactus Jack stopped wrestling his hardcore style in ECW and started using tons of headlocks and rest holds.

Personally, I'm a big fan of Steve Austin as a wrestler but, I've lost a ton of respect for him as a person. To me, a man beating on a woman (especially a wife or girlfriend who he's supposed to care even more about) is pretty high up on the despicable scale. I have a female cousin that was beaten and intimidated by a husband about 4 years ago when I was still in college. She finally had enough and got the courage to leave one night while he was asleep. She was scared to go back to get her stuff so, I told her to come with me and I was there while she got her stuff. I so wanted him to try something and give me an excuse to lay his ass out. I just stood there at the door staring at him while she was gathering her things. My friends tell me that when I'm pissed I look like I'm staring a hole right through people (which I probably am because my martial arts training taught me to look through the target instead of directly at the target when punching or kicking). For whatever reason, the coward never made a scene while she gathered her stuff. This just further intensified my hatred of the act of a man beating a woman. That would also go for any guy that uses his strength to intimidate a woman.

I don't know how this would effect my enjoyment of Austin as a wrestler.

I bet they'd let him drink beer because its part of the show.

They gotta have Austin back for the RAW Anniversary because he's in most of the memorable moments. :)

Although I don't like the man, admittedly based on what little I know of him, and I'm no big fan of his workrate or his character, I'd still love to see Austin back in the WWE. It'll be hilarious to watch you guys villify HHH for using his stroke while praising Austin up to the heavens, although his backstage politicking is just as bad.

I forgot where exactly it happened, but I remember earlier this year Austin drank beer in the ring in a dry county.
If he can do that without getting a ticket, surely it wouldn't be a breach of probation to drink beer as part of a show.

Last time I checked Austin wasn't porking the bosses daughter to get political stroke. The only reason he had/has stroke is because he earned it. When you're the main reason for your companies success, I think that entitles you to a little say in what goes on.

I remember when no one tapped to Angle's Ankle Lock, Austin tapped clean to it. I remember when everyone was bitching about RVD busting people open and Austin put him over on TV. I remember Austin dropping two straight to Jericho and never getting his win back.

I'm not saying he doesn't do some politicing to keep himself near the top but he deserves to be there, unlike the non drawing HHH.

I always thought that Austin was just so damn passionate about the business that he just plain couldn't stand the shitty, mediocre booking. Funny thing was, with Rock gone from RAW, Austin was back to being the undisputed top face on the show and was being booked pretty appropriately.

I wonder if people are seeing this Austin story about him beating his wife and looking at it like they do when rappers should and stab people, that it just makes him look more badass in a weird way.

And here I figured Austin probably ditched because of Hogan. He's always hated the guy. Now Hogan's gone, and he'll probably come back.

I don't see why he can't still drink beer in the ring. Not only does 99% of it not end up in his mouth, but don't they always used the non-alcoholic stuff anyway?

In all the dry counties I know about, it's not illegal to drink beer, it's just illegal to sell beer.

You can buy and drink beer in a dry county (you can drink Jim Beam in a bar if you have a membership), you just can't buy hard liquor there. I went to college in Texas and that's how it was there. I can't speak for Kansas or Oklahoma though.

Some questions: Were you there? Do you know what happened for sure? Do you think if (by chance) the WWE was at fault for his walkout, they would come on TV and say, "Man, we fucked up...and he left." No. They are going to come out and say that Austin was the bad guy in the incident...

... Austin returning would likely = me returning. That's how entertaining I think he is. The WWE has missed him dearly, and I think Vince would take him back (with a clean slate) in a heartbeat.

As for those who wish to pass judgment on Austin -- take a good look in the mirror, and make sure the person staring back at you is perfect. When you realize that person ISN'T perfect, then you'll find how silly it is to realize that you're no better than the person you're condemning. Austin has the right to work through his problems just like every other non-perfect person does.

So...it's unfair to villify Austin for beating his wife but perfectly fine to rip HHH apart for ruining a wrestling show.

Damn, these are some FUCKED-UP priorities here...
