This is for any guitar or bass players. Im looking for a new amp and working on a budget of under $300. Something loud, but with good tone. I will be playing a Epiphone SG and an Ibanez bass through it in two bands. One plays punk and the other plays thrash and hardcore metal. Im considering a Rouge GS-100R. Anybody know if these are any good?

i would recommend seeing what you can get used. i know guitar center has used amps, and more local mom-and-pop type places would have even more.

however, i do think you're going to run into trouble with your budget. i just put together what i consider a fairly budget 350-watt hartke/peavey bass rig for a little over 600 bucks, and it was a steal used. my ex-guitarist just paid a similar price for a used marshall/crate half stack from i believe Musician's Friend, so you might want to try them also.. www.musiciansfriend.com

good luck.. like i said, your budget is way low unless you're just playing in your house and don't need a stage-worthy rig.

i personally think the biggest problem you're going to run into is trying to find a rig that suits both bass and guitar, which seems to be what you're doing. bass played through a guitar amp is going to sound like absolute ASS, so i'd focus on getting a bass head and bass cabinet rather than a guitar amp, which is not going to suit your bass at ALL. and the rely on a pedal to get distortion, rather than using the amp itself.
