Well, considering withoug Shaq in the line-up, his team is behind Golden State after a dozen games, maybe Kobe is actually the second coming of Scottie Pippen. Or, more likely, the second coming of Dominique Wilkens. Funny, without Jordan or Shaq, Phil Jackson doesn't seem to be such a Zen Genius.

Kobe isn't the second coming of anything. No one that shoots 8 for 25 every other night deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Michael Jordan... or Cazzie Russell. It's obvious that without Shaq, the Lakers are one dimensional and severely limited. | JWstorm

Remeber this Micheal Jordan didnt really become "Micheal Jordan" till about his 7th season when he first won the title. Up until that point they said hed never win a title because he didnt make his teamates better and he was too selfish, etc etc. They even disputed whether he was even the leagues best player. And he was almost 30 at that point. Kobe on the other hand in his his 7th season and hes only 24 . Hes still four years away from his prime years as a player. And he already has three NBA titles. That to me is scary. Hes already one of the leagues best, and on some nights he can be unstoppable. Right now hes still immature, and he can be selfish, but hes still young... and no player in the leagues history was as good at 24 years old as Kobe is now, not even jordan. SO give him a break.... Um, no. Kobe is more like a Penny Hardaway. He is selfish and does not work within the Triangle Offense. If he did then the Lakers would have a much better record. When you have a player that does not pass the ball to his teammates there is not much you can do outside of benching him.
Phil Jackson is trying to teach Kobe a lesson. Kobe believes that he can carry a team. This stretch at the beginning of the season proves that he cannot carry the Lakers by himself. Failure can be a very humbling lesson which is what Jackson is trying to teach Kobe.
