So the laptop computer that I bought just one scant year ago is starting to give me problems ... Apparently, the re-writable CD drive is not working properly, as it keeps giving me error messages when I try to copy files onto blank CDs.

It's kind of weird, because it was working fine earlier in the week ... I was backing up the files on my hard drive, and the first couple of CDs didn't give me any problems. However, when I tried to finish up the next day (I started making backups late at night and thought I could just continue the next night rather than sacrifice more sleep), the files were being copied to the disk very SLOOOOOOWLY until it finally just gave me a "There was an error writing to the disk" message.

At first I thought there might just be a problem with the last couple of disks (I've become notorious at having bad luck when it comes to buying blank CDs that actually function properly), but I returned them for some replacements and the same thing happened - it'll copy the files to the disk very slowly, then it'll just "sit" on one file for a few moments (up to a minute and a half one time) before giving the error message. Plus, I tried the new disks on the re-writable CD drive of my computer at work, and they worked fine.

So, am I doomed to return my precious laptop to Best Buy (I got the three-year warranty plan) and have them send it back to the manufacturer for repairs? Me no likey that idea ...

Try different files. Perhaps your files are corrupted on the HD.

Nope, I've since tried looking at the original files I tried to copy (the ones on the HD), and they all seem to work/open like normal ...
