Made you look.
Seriously:
-The #1 contender to Shawn's title will be named tonight. -Dudleys en masse vs. 3-Minute Warning & Rico. -Dreamer & Jeff Hardy vs. Storm & Regal. -Christian vs. Goldust. -Snow vs. Nowinski in a "School Of Hard Knocks Match", whatever that is.

If God is just, it will be Jericho. It will probably be Useless Lump of Steroids, though. | The Goon

I reckon it'll be Jericho vs Booker | dMr

| #5 Posted on 18.11.02 1508.23 Reposted on: 18.11.09 1508.25 | After the way Jericho performed last night he deserves the number one spot. Hopefully they know better than to just hand titles/title shots to people on a plate now though so a match against booker for the shot sounds like a good call.
I assume from this the 'Shawn lays down title leading to tournament' idea's a non-starter then? | PowerPB13

Fear not, Raw fans! Despite the debilitating injury suffered last night, Triple H most likely WILL be appearing on Raw to entertain his legions of fans!...

| #7 Posted on 18.11.02 1528.28 Reposted on: 18.11.09 1529.02 | I may be wrong, but I suspect the speculation on many people's parts today about Shawn vacating the title one way or another was predicated upon the notion that he can't work anywhere close to a full schedule.
By the looks of it, though, either that's not the case (i.e. Shawn is finding out his back is in better shape than he thought, or he's realizing that he wants one more run whatever the cost, or he's taking the opportunity to play hero for RAW and thus laying a platinum electroplate on his golden stature in Vince's eyes, or...you get the idea), or they're going to play Shawn as a lame-duck champion who got the belt by "accident" and is now "stuck with it" until the next pay-per-view or something.
The simple fact is that if Shawn can work, it would be incredible to see him do a program with Jericho, Booker T, or even Rob Van Dam (have a "maximum rotations off a clothesline" competition or something). This is such a perfect opportunity (if Shawn is up to it) to let another guy step up and be a star that I admit I'll be disappointed if it doesn't happen that way.
At the same time, if I'm Vince and I'm looking at what might be possible if the belt is around Steiner's waist when HHH comes back, then I'm admittedly having a hard time choosing between the two.
After all, like it or not, there is nobody with a more realistic claim to that big gold belt than Steiner: Goldberg's not an option for many reasons, Booker T has been WWE for too long, Hogan's done, Flair's done, etc. | Alex

I remember back in WCW that they would immediately announce the main event of the next show without any sort of build-up to it, and it was so anti-climatic. | dMr

Assuming HHH isn't involved this should mean Shawn hanging on till the next ppv at least unless Vince suddenly gets the courage to have a raw main event without HHH or HBK. | Aphrodites Reflection

| #10 Posted on 18.11.02 1615.22 Reposted on: 18.11.09 1615.42 | I agree with Tarnish. I think that people were calling/hoping for a tournament not because of dislike of HBK, but because of concern that he just doesn't have what it takes to wrestle for 4-5 weeks in the main event, then defend at the next PPV.
I don't want to knock him, but he hasn't really shown us(yet, hopefully he will prove us wrong) the ability to put on quality matches on the strenuous schedule that the WWE demands. He looked good at Summerslam, and then has been in the ring a combined 20 mins (exaggerating, but not TOO much)in the last month, mostly to pop up, whack Triple H, and then dance.
With Brock Lesnar losing his title because of an injury, some of us question the decision to put the other title on a guy with a bad back who hasn't wrestled on a regular schedule for a long while.
However, and this is a big however, those concerns and fears are mainly just concerns over the health of the man, and the health of the business. I would like nothing better than to be shown that I was dumb, that he is in fine shape and that he is the way to improve the program and the ratings. I just hope that he knows his own limits, and he remains careful.
While the smark in me remains skeptical, the mark in me would cheer if I was proven wrong in the upcoming weeks. I am certainly not hoping that he fails, just so I can say "see, I told you so" after the next PPV. Yet I will remain cautious until he has shown us that he can wrestle with Booker T or Jericho for 7-10 minutes and look decent doing it.
