I have no idea if we have some computer genuises here in weinerville or not but I thought I would ask for help anyway...

I'm having a problem with my computer, it's not letting me download anything on the internet. Kazaa is working, but I can't download things on the internet. I keep getting the message.

"Internet Explorer was not able to open this site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later."

And I know it's not just the webpage either. I've tried downloading things about 30 to 40 different sites and none of them have worked. And none of them are like people's personal webpages their like big webpages like www.download.com. Also when I try streaming audio it just does nothing, no message or anything.

Any suggestions?

when i've had kazaa running for a while [hour or so], nothing else will work, or will very slowly...

and i have a 1333 AMD K2, 512 of memory, cable modem and 120 gig hd, so i have plenty of space....

i suggest if you let kazaa run, do it overnight, and reboot in the morning, it's how i fix that memory/resource hog

Have you tried limiting the number of people who can upload from your computer at the same time? I was having problems with Kazaa slowing down my comp until I limited it to 2 uploads. Then everything ran fine.

Have you tried downloading from a different browser, such as Netscape? And if that works, why not just delete Explorer completely, and re-insteall? Or you could stick with Netscape... it tends to screw up less. The setback is that Netscape doesn't really work so well with some pages out there...
