We all have our favorite Survivor Series moments. Often times, these are the most historic as well.

1996: A young Rocky Maivia wins his first IC title.
1997: The Montreal Incident
1998: The Rock joins the Corporation
1999: Steve Austin is run-down, letting Big Show win the title.
2000: The Undertaker wears crazy pants! Plus, Are there two Kurt Angles? Or is it an illusion?!
2001: Test proves how much of a hoss he is by wrestling two matches, winning immunity in the second.

Any favorite SS moments? Will this year's event live up to the past? Will someone wear crazier pants than Taker?

Rock didn't win his first IC title until Tuesday Raw Tuesday (I think that was the title). He did make his debut there though. Also, that was the night that the Stone Cold/Bret Hart match finally came about. What a build up to that one...

Bret barely beats Austin in a classic in 96. The Undertaker debuts in 90. Shane McMahon flips Austin the bird in 98. Bret goes through the Spanish Table for possibly the first time in 95. Owen turns against Bret in 93. Bret celebrates his hard-fought win over HBK in 92 with Santa Claus. UT kills Hulkamania in 91. Diesel and HBK break up in 94. Owen costs Bret the belt in 94. Shane McMahon gets rocked with several finishers in 2001. Those are the first 10 that came to my mind.

I forgot to mention my favorite memory was the match between Hart and Austin. The ending of that match was so great. Austin, trying everything he could to beat the Hitman, went back to the Million Dollar Dream. He locked it on tight and Bret ended up pinning him while still IN THE HOLD. Oh man, gives me chills...

I just remember the promos for that match were like nothing I'd ever seen. Austin was in a broken down warehouse shouting at Bret. It was shot on really grainy B&W film. His quotes were great. "Pink and Black? What kind of man wears pink?"

Of course, this was the angle that brought about the Pillman/gun angle.

The very first Pay-Per-View I ever saw live was the first Survivor Series. I remember being ecstatic when Ricky Steamboat (my favourite at the time) won. I also remember marking out like crazy when Andre won because Hogan always annoyed me as a kid. (Oddly enough, I rather like him now, unlike most ppl who liked him as a kid and hate him now.) More than anything else, though, I had received my NES that morning (my dad playtested it then couldn't wait until Christmas) so I vividly remember seeing Mario run across the screen all during the show because I had that scene imprinted in my head from playing it for so many straight hours.

Incidently, there's a Dawn Marie listed on the heel team of the first Women's Survivor Series. Is it the same one currently in the WWE?

It's not the same one that's currently in WWE but who it is, I'm not sure.

My first PPV was also the 1st SurSer. I remember watching Macho tearing around the ring. Being 10, I was a big Hogan fan so I was pissed when Andre won, but it also made me think that Andre was going to win the title. Ok, so it was in February in probably the single coolest finish I have seen played out but it still kicked ass.

I also loved the 94 show, Bret/Backlund was a great match!

My biggest/favorite Series memories, year by year (I didn't start watching till 91)

1991: Flair's interview after he helps Undertaker beat Hogan for the World title ("And the Undertaker..picks him up in the Tombstone..and BOOM..and it's all OVER! No more taking your vitamins..no more saying your prayers..and no more Hulkamania!")
1992: Undertaker defeating Kamala in a coffin match, and LITERALLY putting the nails in Kamala's coffin.
1993: Owen begins his heel turn on Bret. Also, for some reason I really enjoyed the little Luger-Ludvig Borga one-on-one at the end of the main event Series match.
1994: Mr. Bob Backlund wins the championship belt back (remember, he had been champion since 1978. He only regained the belt :)) Also, Michaels superkicks Diesel one too many times. And Diesel's performance in absolutely DEMOLISHING his entire opposing team in a matter of minutes.
1995: Bret outsmarts and pins Diesel for the World title, and Diesel snaps afterward.
1996: Sid, one of my favorites at that point, wins his first World title by beating Michaels. And the amazing Bret-Austin match.
1997: Bret gets screwed. Nuff said.
1998: The entire setup angle resulting in Rock winning the World title for the first time. I was one of the many that never saw it coming, and it was a pleasant surprise.
1999: I dunno, nothing really, although I kinda liked Show winning the title, just because I liked him in WCW. I was young and stupid.
2000: Double Doink^H^H^H^H^HAngle outsmarts the Undertaker.
2001: Rock FINALLYS pins Austin in the main event to kill the Alliance.
2002: Hopefully it'll be Brock Lesnar either F5ing Big Show or hitting the Shooting Star Press. Or Booker T winning the World title.

Mike

My favorite Survivor Series memory was the whole Rock becomes the Corporate Champion angle. One of the few times in a long time that I was COMPLETELY surprised by a wrestling angle.

Unfortunately, my most vivid memory of Survivor Series will always be a negative one. It was Vince and his Survivor Series that ended the Thanksgiving Day tradition of Starrcade, which used to be my favorite of all the SuperCards. Only makes it worse that Vince stopped putting the event on Thanksgiving after he ruined the Starrcade tradition. Now, the only Thanksgiving Day tradition in wrestling is those stupid food fights on SmackDown.

I get chills just remembering that. That and the fact I got it on tape ::snicker:: I watched it last night actually, and I think that if the WWE has any worth left, they wouldn't DARE piss off the MSG fans this time around either, if they do, I doubt they'd welcome them back.

Whoa, no way dude.

Bret/Austin at WMXIII was the double turn, where Austin refused to tap to the Sharpshooter. Fantastic Blade Job by Austin in this match.

I think he meant WrestleMania VIII, where Bret pinned Piper with a nearly identical move to win the Intercontinental title (Piper used a conventional sleeper, Bret kicked off the buckles and pinned him the same way he pinned Austin).

Rock pulled out the same counter to the Dream at WrestleMania X-Seven, but Austin kicked out.

Another awesome moment: The double-switch between Demolition and the Powers of Pain in the tag-team Survivor Series match. This was preceded by an unprecedented accounting by Los Conquistadors as well. Previously JTTS, the outlasted quite a few more popular/established teams and impressed with their staying power. I thought it was supposed to be the start of big things for them, but sadly twas not to be. I was quite happy to see Edge and Christian bring back Los Conquistadors, though, for a nice nostalgic look back.

I also remember the Jake vs. Andre Survivor Series, after Jake's snake had given Andre a heart attack. Andre choked Jake out, DQ'ing himself but leaving Jake as easy pickin's for the rest of the team. Selfless act by the gentle giant. lol.

I'll second the vote for Rocky's turn at Survivor Series '98. Sublimely pulled-off, with Shane's turn earlier in the night set up as a sweet distraction to lull the fans into a false sense of security. In an age where screwjobs and shocking swerves are all the rage, it's great to look back at that one massive shocker that fooled us all.

The Rock turn at Survivor Series was one of Vince Russo's shining moments. I was completely swerved. I thought for sure Foley was getting the belt that night. Of course, I didn't have to wait long for that, but still, what a storyline!
