Oklahoma and Bowling Green lost. Two unbeatens left. OSU can't beat Michigan, so there goes the other, and Miami I think will lose to Pitt (no optimistic bias there). Unfortunately, I think Texas will end up playing for the National Title, and that's a shame.

Aggies can knock off Texas (Chris Simms + Big Spot= Choke). If the game was at Pitt, I'd give them an even money shot, in Little Havana at night, thats walking into a trap. But, then again, who had Va. Tech throwing for over 500 yards and losing. ND lives to fight another day, repeat the remember 1977 mantra.

I was so disappointed in Bowling Green's loss. I was hoping Miami and Ohio State would lose while B. Green remained undefeated. (BCS that.)

Oh, and for the record, Ohio State beat Michigan last year. It was the only big win they had all year, but up there, if you beat Michigan, you're all right.

As much as I would love it if Pitt beat Miami at the Orange Bowl... it's not going to happen. Miami's too dangerous at home (not to mention too fast period).

I'd be floored - and pissed as hell - if Texas made it to the national title game. Oklahoma should win out, and if they do, then wouldn't that put Oklahoma in the Big 12 title game, not Texas? There was a bad enough backlash when Nebraska pulled it off last year - two years in a row with 2 Big 12 teams? That might cause a riot.

I wonder if the Notre Dame players will be waking up this week with night sweats in anticipation of their face-off this weekend with mighty Rutgers ?

I don't think so either. But wouldn't it be great to see them lose to Rutgers ????

Miami is now a BCS Championship shoo-in - Oklahoma will have a good chance to find their way back after they trounce whoever they wind up playing in the Big 12 championship game

Yeah it does look like it's possible that Texas gets in without even going to the Big 12 Championship like Nebraska last year, that is the BIGGEST flaw out of all of the BCS flaws. That's why I propose that when the BCS is over they go to an 8 team tournament with 6 teams being the conference winners and then the two best mid major teams. Sure Bowling Green and Colorado State or whoever probably have no chance of beating someone like Miami, but i say why not give them a chance in an opening round game.

Notre Dame is definitely out.

Oklahoma and Georgia both have an extra game for the Conference Title games. But I don't think Oklahoma is a lock against Colorado again. And I don't think Georgia's opponent will be strong enough to make a difference.

What about Washington State? They beat Oregon, while Texas only beat Baylor. That should help Washington State's strength of schedule and possibly move them ahead of Texas in the polls don't you think?

Wash St caught the Longhorns in the AP (1592-1590) and positively stomp them in the NY Times computer - jumping from 9th to 4th while UT slipped from 6th to 9th. A convincing USC victory over the Golden Domers can only help the Cougars provided they don't choke against the Huskies in their annual hate match.

Normally, I am not given to flights of faith regarding college FB, BUT....

OSU hasn't beaten Illinois yet. After a rough start it looks like the Illini have finally decided on a QB and the defense is playing a little bit better. UI's last two games are OSU and Northwestern, so the team is looking at this as their entry to a bowl (I can hardly believe it).

If the Illini win out, they will finish 6-6 overall, and 5-3 in the Big 10, likely third....and in a pretty damn good bowl considering a 1-5 start...

I really think OSU runs the table right now. Illinois is improving but they're probably not going to get more than 10-14 points on this insanely good Buckeye defense. And as for Michigan... well, it's OSU/Michigan. But Jim Tressel can beat them and Michigan has looked very weak against teams with good D (Notre Dame kept them from scoring and Iowa beat the crap out of them on their home field.) It'll be close, but OSU wins 24-21 or something like that.

As for Miami... well, they probably run it too, since their two tough games are at home. If they didn't have 2 weeks to prepare for Pitt I'd say that's their upset trap, but it'll all probably come down to Tech/'Canes.

Miami/OSU in Tempe? I think that's a safe bet.

If my interpretation of the rules is correct(and with lots of 12 game schedules this year, I could be wrong) Illinois won't go anywhere with a 6-6 record because you generally have to have a winning record to go bowling, and 6-6 is not a winning record even if the NCAA gave a pass to North Texas last year at 5-6 to go to the New Orleans Bowl as the Sun Belt champ.

And one more thing; the order of finish has nothing to do with the which team goes where. Just becuase a bowl says "Big Ten # 3 vs Big East # 2" doesn't mean it's the teams in those spots in the standings. That bowl has the 3rd choice of teams from the Big Ten and the 2nd choice from the Big East. And everybody knows that if Penn State or Michigan or available at # 3(likely with OSU and Iowa going 1-2) then they'll go before Illinois will.

Because of everyone being scheduled to play at least 12 games this season, an exemption has been provided allowing teams that go 6-6 to go to Bowl Game That Only Degenerate Gamblers Pay Attention To at 1 p.m. in the middle of December. Luckily, I'm one of those people who will pay attention to the game.
