Ah, the list that spawns much hatred and vemon filled posts on wrestling boards all over the internet! Quick question for you Dean, if the Rock was still active, where would you place him? I know it would depend on how well he wrestled after August (which he didn't), but do you have any idea where he'd go?

I dunno how Edge can have about 5 North American match of the year candidates in the time period and be that low. Guerrero and Angle weren't wrestling themselves out there, you know. Especially when Mysterio gets such a high spot.

DR:I'd have him around 70 if he had a couple matches as good as the one against Lesnar and the tag matches he was in. He was in the zone. I married him this time when he was active if I remember correctly.

I don't get how Goldust can be at 70 and Edge at 90. Edge spends the year rocking the house and Goldust, while admittedly very amusing to watch in his skits, has one good match against Rob Van Dam and then WHOOOOSH let's not try to pretend that the Goldust/Booker tag team has had a streak of good matches or anything, huh?

I dunno, for me, it's like: Goldust is far surpassing expectations, while Edge just isn't living up to his potential.

The DVDVR crew has pretty openly criticized Edge's offense as being really bad, which is why he got a low ranking. And really, if you watch some of Goldust's matches, he is a really fun worker who busts his ass. He's sorta the hidden treasure of the Raw roster.

DR: He's busting ass to make it to 90. his selling makes up for his complete lack of offense. To get higher, he would have to be able to appear to inflict some sort of damage. Top hundred in the world says that he isn't getting smoked by the top ten in the world wrestlers he's in with.

I'm surprised AL WILSON~! septigerian lover and inspiration to Dean because he can still feel the love of a woman as young & hot as Dawn Marie didn't make the list. I know he's never worked a match, but I would think inspiring Dean the way Al does would get a ranking at about 450 or so.

Once again the list is sh|+. Aside from the top choice everything else is a load of crap. RVD at 488. Yeah sure. Ron Killings at 366. Yeah sure. While Goldust comes in at 83. I think they purposely make this list a pile of bullsh|+ to stir up controversy.

Dammit Joe, you stole my joke!

As for the 500, well, I was a little upset tha Poison Swada Julie only made no. 467. THEN, I realised I didn't know who the Hell Poison Sawada Julie WAS, and I kinda perked up. Although I really do have to question the low ranking of Edge.

DR: Poison Sawada JULIE is the wrestler from Dynamic Dream Team that used to be just Poison Sawada, but who has kidnapped by aliens and transformed into the androgenous hypnotist that he is today. And people say the Japanese don't do Sports Entertainment.

I'll have to board the "Edge got shafted" bandwagon too. Plus, also throw in Tajiri into the mix. He's looked every bit as impressive as Chavo during his (punishment/unusefulness) time on Velocity. But hey, Goldust is in the top 100, so I'm happy.

75. Brock Lesnar

This does my heart good, seeing Brock so high up on the list. He's been awesome and his progress as a worker and seller has been incredible.

The thread at DVDVR is too massive, so I'm putting my thoughts here.

1) Eddie Guerrero
I'm a bit iffy here. His match with Flair was really underwhelming to me. I'd have given the top spot to Angle.
2) Chris Benoit
Nothing wrong here.
4) Genichiro Tenyru
See what happens when you do multiple MOTYCs in your 50s? Flair wishes he had Tenryu's longevity.
7) Kurt Angle
Should've been #1.
8) Rey Misterio Jr.
Eh, too high.
9) American Dragon
10) Naohiro Hoshikawa
11) Satoshi Kojima
12) Dick Togo
13) Osamu Nishimura
All acceptable. I wish Kojima was higher, but I know KOJI-v-MUTA hurt him.
15) Low-Ki'
And Ki's overrating continues.
17) Shinjiro Ohtani
19) Masato Tanaka
Acceptable.
21) Doug Williams
Need Williams tape now.
23) Taiyo Kea
Always seemed a bit sloppy to me.
73) Kenta Kobashi
With the knees of an 80 year old. Jeez. Kobashi = God
83) Goldust
Did someone tell Dustin its '93 again and he has to justify his push? Jeez, 'Dust has been the sole highlight of Raw when I still watched it.
96) Red
Should be much lower. He's not a wrestler, he's a gymnast. One should be able to sell to make the Top 100.
101) Black Tiger (Silver King)
What the hell happened? Did he lose his motivation after Eddy left? I guess BT/Sammy-v-TM3/TM4 must've hurt him a lot.
119) Matt Hardy
Acceptable
189) Samoa Joe
Should be top 100 easy. Best Indy Heavyweight, period.
267) Chris Candido
Barely active. Shouldn't be ranked.
374) Triple H
375) Bruce (Alan Funk)
376) Buh Buh Ray Dudley
Bubba Ray should be higher.
400) Bison Smith
I seem to recall everybody hating this guy when he worked under a mask. I don't understand what gets him love now.
458) Navajo Warrior
I believe he's injured.
498) Damien Steele
If this is the same Steele that was XPW champ, I believe he's retired.

1) Eddie Guerrero
2) Chris Benoit
7) Kurt Angle
8) Rey Misterio Jr.

Awesome. Kurt's my personal choice because he's been the most versatile, working different kinds of matches against Edge, Benoit and Misterio. But I understand the reasons, the little selling stuff that Rippa mentioned and he still doesn't throw a good punch.

75) Lesnar

He wasn't even on the other lists, I'm pretty sure. Was his OVW work really that different from his WWE work?

83) Goldust

Nuh uh. I still don't know where the Goldust love is coming from. Where are the good matches? What does he have besides his Scot Hall style punch?

90) Edge

Most of the people here think he got screwed, I saw a couple people over at the DVDVR board saying he was overrated because he kept getting carried in matches with four of the top ten wrasslers. I can see both sides of the coin, this spot seems about right. If it were about being in good matches instead of actually being responsible for them, he'd be top 10. But who has he carried? And the stuff he did against the big three heels was definitely less impressive than what Rey did, or what they did against each other.

103) Yoshihiro Tajiri

No way. Tons of good stuff on Velocity during the time period, especially the 12 minute match against Kidman. Was doing all kinds of freaky things to Shane Helms' leg a couple weeks ago. Just really smooth in the ring, his kicks are better than Goldust's punches, he bumps, he does cool mat stuff, what more could you ask for?

119) Matt Hardy

I think he's better than Goldust and Edge, but until he stops being the rag doll for whoever's challenging Lesnar this week, he won't get much of a chance to show it.

206) Billy Kidman

How'd he drop about 100 spots from the last time? I don't know most of the guys in this range so I can't beef with the particular spot, but was he really that much worse these last six months than the period before that?

338) Jeff Hardy

Should be off the list. Seriously, his offense takes a billion years to set up, and on the occasion that he manages to actually hit it, looks totally weak and sloppy. His matches have no point except for him and his opponent hitting their trademark spots, and those are usually blown.

488) Rob Van Dam

Someone on this forum once said RVD looks more like he's trying to look good than he's trying to win a match, that about sums it up for me. Even if his selling was consistent, it would still look like crap because he's no good at pretending to be hurt.
