Does anyone think Hugh Douglas should have been fined $35k? I don't think so. Miller was trying make the tackle (it look liked), so Douglas had the right to squash him.

Funny how Tony Siragusa didn't get fined for his hit on Gannon a year ago in the AFC champ game.

I'm not real clear on what the rules for roughing the passer are, but it looked clear to me. I heard on the radio that there is a rule that you can't land on the quarterback.

What?

You can't land on the quarterback!? Isn't that what you're supposed to do to someone who has the ball if you're on defense?

Miller made no real action towards the play, and was obviously not even close to being a participant in the action. He stopped standing totally still, which I guess does legally allow him to be hit, but that was excessive the way Douglas grabbed him, lifted him up and slammed him shoulder first into the ground. It was a hit designed to injure a man not involved in the play.

There, I feel better now.

Miller was about 30 yards away from the play, in no position to make the tackle. But Douglas really didn't know that, so I could see where he would want to make a block. His takedown was a little excessive, so maybe the fine could have been a little lower. Actually, Miller deserved to be knocked down for that crappy throw. What was he thinking. White was only triple-covered, and the ball ended up nowhere near him.

that was too much of an excessive hit..... throwing him into the ground?.... if you want to get a cheap hit by making it look like your blocking then just shoulder tackle or push him to the ground.... no sense roughing the passer and costing yourself and your team...

He did not deserve a fine.

Its the same play that happens every game after an INT. The QB is free for hitting and every defensive player near him knows it and goes for it.

Douglas got fined just because Miller got hurt. If he had not, there would have been no more talk about it.

Though the shot was not on the same level as Charles Martin bodyslamming then-Bears quarterback Jim McMahon to the turf back in the 80's, it *was* a cheap shot. The fine was warranted.

On the Bill Parcells football show on TSN, he said that he disagreed with the fine. Gotta agree with the Tuna himself.

BTW, I wish the bloodbath from the Bears-Packers rivalry would continue!
