I hope they show some old school stuff like Tranzor Z, Voltron, Battle of the Planets, and the greatest ever: StarBlazers.
Hopefully they'll have a similar deal like Cartoon Network where they have the more adult oriented shows on as well, just at a later time.
As soon as I find out when this network turns on, I will be harassing RCN to pick it up. | MollyFan2K2

If it is something you have to pay for, then I bet adult shows will be on at any time of the day. A lot of the anime that would appeal to the majority of Americans would have something people (at least parents) would consider adult, at least the uncut versions would, which if I know ADV, is pretty much all they will show. (If any edited anime was shown on an all-anime channel, I bet the otakus would lay seige to the broadcast studio. ) A lot of things that parents don't want their children to see is plentiful in anime: sex, ultraviolence, normal violence (which a lot of parents don't seem to have a problem with), nudity, gay/lesbian relationships (*gasp* we all know THOSE are the worst), mysticism, and a whole bunch of stuff that would make people like John Ashcroft and Tipper Gore (wow, what a pair) cower under thier beds.
You can bet that when this channel comes out, I'll be first in line to get it. I've been waiting for this for YEARS and it's about damn time. So let me just say to ADV, arigatou! | DarkRenegade

GENERALLY, the art is crappy and the storylines suck... For some reason, though... I got hooked on that "Big O" (I have no idea if the name is right or not) when they used to show it right after I got off work. I got to watch it for all of like 2 weeks before they changed the lineup. Oh well...

Storyline needed? Please contact Bebop, Cowboy or Inuyasha.
As for Big O, CN funded a sequal series known as Big O2 that'll hit Toonami next year.

I don't think those points would be a big problem. Buffy has been doing this for years already.

I suppose if all you've seen is Dragonball Z and Pokémon, which is basically the full extent of televised anime in north america at the moment, then yeah. But below the surface lies material that lays WASTE to all domestic animation save for maybe Simpsons. Also, there is more than just one anime art style; more like dozens. I'm sure if you watched enough of it, you'd find one you like. Personally, I'm partial to Rumiko Takahashi, Gainax, and Miyazaki, while I HATE the Dragonball style and some of the shojo styles with a passion. | Super Shane Spear

I don't go out of my way to watch Anime, but I'll check out some of the more obscure ones that they show on Showtime Beyond from time to time. My roommate is a fanatic though. The only things he won't watch is the ones where the kids have horns or a third eye for some reason. He also likes that one where this kid gets stuck in one of those online RPGs. | Stephanie

This may be worth getting a dish. I don't know if the pent-up demand is quite there, but if there was enough demand for old game shows (Game Show Network) and truly sappy TV movies (Lifetime), there's probably a place for the Anime Channel.

Yes, and I commend Buffy for doing that. What I was talking about was all of the things in anime that some parents might not want their children to watch, yet many parents think of anime as "children's cartoons". I was trying to show to some people who might not be familiar with it that it is not just "children's stuff" (a common misconception). But I should've known that a good amount of people here already watch and love anime.
And "The Big O" is one of the very few animes that I DON'T like. I dunno, I could never get into it.
The styles I'm partial to are Miyazaki, CLAMP (so sue me), Kosuke Fujishima, Gainax, Masamune Shirow, Rumiko Takahashi and Kenichi Sonoda.

There are good movies and bad movies, just like there is good anime and bad anime. If you don't like cartoons at all, that's fine. But don't write it off without sampling some of the diversity.

I'm stoked for it, only because maybe, just maybe, I could finally see the Fist of the North Star series as compared to just one two-hour movie.
