I am also blown away.
I think Lisa Loeb is one of the hottest chicks in the world...but thought I was alone. That's the best thing about Weinerville - the bond of salaciousness we build here.

Reposted on: 31.10.09 0502.24 | Christina still probably has plenty of money, but I think she's realized that she missed out on the whole teeney pop bandwagon that left station with NSync, BSB, Britney and so forth. She got in on the start of the wave and she missed the crest entirely. Now I think she's desperately trying to build "another image" so that she doesn't get completely lost in the shuffle. Especially since, say, Britney had the sense to make three crappy albums right in a row, rake in tons of cash, get her MegaBucks deal with Pepsi, before she faded off into the distance. Christina only got one album off, and now she's got to "make up for lost time" as it were.
It must be especially hard because she's the "Grammy Winner" and the only one who the music critics thought could last against Britney after the pop wave died out (oddly enough, the only other one who's really still around is Mandy Moore, but then again, SHE'S only really around in movies).
For what it's worth, I always thought that Christina had an awesome voice, but she was WAY better doing the Power Pop then she is doing the "Pseudo Rap". "Dirrty" sounds ok, but the rest of the album is really middle of the road crap, rather than catchy crap.
Lisa Loeb is one of those girls who I'll bracket in with Trish Stratus and Reese Witherspoon in the "I can totally see why you would think she was hot, but she does nothing for me" group.
As a not so interesting side note to the Christina story, she DOES have a third (fourth, I guess if you count the Spanish one) album in circulation, that she cut before being signed and doing the whole Pop Princess thing. Eh. It's pretty standard fair for a teen trying to get her first album deal. She tried to get it blocked, but she didn't own the rights, so it was released, but with a little note in the CD case saying that Christina while "proud of the album" had done it early in her career and had "moved on from the music" on the record. I'm pretty sure it bombed pretty badly. |
