Tim Duncan had the honors of initiating Yao into the league, knocking him to the floor off an attempted block. Yao finished with 6 points, but seemed to adjust to the physical style of the NBA, which is good as it appears that every opposing big man is going to test Yao's toughness throughout the season. The kid's got spirit, though. Gotta like a guy who's all, “Well, I felt like a rookie. Pretty much what I expected” instead of “The damned referees didn't do their job correctly.”
