OK... I no longer have any resistance- I am going out and buying this game after work, and plugging it in as soon as I get home. Now for all of you who have been playing this for a while- any suggestions for a newbie?

Or simply save your money and head on over to Gamefaqs. That usually does it for me.

I think the guide is well worth the $14 I paid for it. It so easy just to have the damn thing right there to help you plus you can see what you are about to buy something you cant do at Gamesfaqs.

if you can still sell your sperm, do that.

oh, and the obvious piece of advice: fish = money. I found getting used to the fishing kind of hard, but now it's easy, after about two days of it. The minute you can buy a net, buy it.

Oh, and pushing around your fellow townspeople and/or smacking them with the bug net = fun. And don't run around with rare, valuable stuff you don't want to lose on your person and talk to one of the animals, they may force you to give it to them for something crappy, like a stuffed bear or something.

Huh. I've had townspeople ask for stuff, and when I say no, ask again. I say no, and they just let it go. I've never been forced to give up anything.

Halloween is really filling up my house. Almost all of my basement is filled with candy. Does that pitfall do anything important in the game? Is there anything useful that can be done with those things besides hoping someone walks over them? As for making money. When you first start the game you can make some fast money by selling the shells that are on the beach.

I think it happened to me once, but it was with something that sucked. But, it could also be because I'm a moron and never say no. That is more likely (I have this desire to get everything. ANd it also sucks when I'm carrying around a ton of bells, and they ask this insane price for something and I don't know what I'm gonna get. I suck like that.) Which means the real tip is "don't run around with a shitload o' bells, 'cause one of the animals is gonna try and rip you off good. And they might try tto take your really good stuff from you too, so don't carry any of that either."

Well- I got the game and I am hooked- I am disappointed that there is really nothing left to do tonight. I only managed to get the shovel- so I could do no fishing or bug catching. I designed my first shirt (a lovely Deadpool design), about died when Nook(ie) freaked out because I took my work uniform off (a more casual environment RULES!), wrote some letters, and found a few fossils I can do nothing with yet...
A few questions. There is this annoying bitch who seems to think I am in love with her. HOW do I hit her in the head with the shovel again?

Sorry, no hitting people with the shovel allowed ... You CAN hit them with the bug-net, however. It's kinda fun to sneak up on them from behind; that way you don't see the sad look on their face and feel remorse
Oh, but if you still want to hit something with the shovel, try those big rocks that are sporadically placed around the village. Unlike the ax, the shovel won't break (at least, it hasn't broken on me yet), plus - if you're lucky - you might find the one rock that will spit out bags of bells like an old-skool Super Marios Bros. coin block! HUZZAH!

You need to hit a rock to get a pill bug, too, for your insect collection.

Fun thing to do to neighbors you don't like? Dig holes all around them and trap them inside a little box. Then whip out your bug catching net and smack them repeatedly.

When does Nook start selling the bug net and the fishing pole?
And, can anyone help me out with some fruit, other than peaches? I have a killer place to put some fruit trees away from EVERYTHING....
And what is this island I see mentioned? How do you get there? Can you do so without the GBA?

No you need GBA. I think it is worth it if you can get GBA and the cable cheap. If you feed the animal on the island there fruit you get bags of bells. You can make alot of money fast that way. Since the animal sometimes gives out bags of 30,000.

I have Oranges, Pears, Apples, Peaches, and cherries. I am willing to trade any of those. PM me.

You should be able to buy either the fishing rod or the net on the second day (I got the rod, you might get the net. and the axe is another possible option). it is possible that you can get both, but i'm not at all sure.

I buried pitfalls in the three spaces surrounding the door of my horse-lady, Cleo, cuz she tends to be a bitch, and I figured this would either seal her in or cause her to fall in and get trapped. Sure enough, the next day I'm chasing a bug near her house, and I hit one of the pitfalls. While I'm fussing in the hole, Cleo comes out, and walks into one of the other pitfalls. I may be an idiot, but at least I got to see my plan come to fruition.

Has anyone noticed that while there are only about five distinct personalities spread amongst the animals, some of them are just nicer and some just aren't? I think Cleo and Olivia (a cat) have the same personality, but I like Olivia and I hate Cleo. Does that make sense???

All this talk about Animal Crossing makes me want to buy a Gamecube... But I prefer retro gaming! (digs out SNES!)

On the up side, I saw a local video store is selling their old N64s for $18.99! I'll be getting one next week!

But Animal Crossing HAS retro gaming!!! There are old NES's in the game and each one has an old NES game you can actually play on it. So far I've got Donkey Kong, DK Jr. Math, and Tennis.

N64's for less than $20 is too cool for school though. That's less than some stores are selling the used games for.

OK- now I am starting to come across some weird crap, like a hammock, a Raven pole (looks like a huge totem pole) and a deer scare??? Is stuff like this common?
And how, exactly, do you get other NES games?
