Robert - I'm saving a copy of every PDF you're doing for the year 2002 thus far, and I REALLY hope you keep this up for a long time to come.

While the idea is simple - the whole layout, and stats are blowing me away.

Cool, glad to know you enjoy them; if you miss any, I keep them stored on my system for quite a while. E-mail as necessary.

Hey Robert, I'm a fan of the lines as well. One question- did you start using a more narrow font recently? The past few updates were really hard to read for me- the last SD lines, especially.

I think these are awesome as well. I'm obsessed with stats as well. I run the record book at Weekly Visitor. I'm nowhere near as skilled at PDF, so I just use your basic HTML. I hope you get a chance to look at it.

My only question is that I noticed Billy Gunn had a .833 record, or 5-1 if you put it that way. Did you count losing in the Royal Rumble as a loss?

Yes, I credited the Royal Rumble as a straight win-loss deal. It may seem out of place, per se, but I think that is the best way to keep track.

Yes, I am using a narrower font; it allows me to write in more as necessary without shrinking the font height. But I think I can simply alter the spacing between letters to remedy the problem.

They look fine in Acrobat 5 in Windows. I'm guessing your x pdf viewer thingy just doesn't like them...

It seemed to work for me - but you're something different to view PDFs than I am, I think. Mac? Dunno if it'd make a difference anyway.

Oh well, just one more reason to hate PDF I guess. I suppose I could go out and buy a copy of Windows... Nah.

Why not just get the Acrobat reader? That's what I use on my UNIX box...

It looks more like a font issue to me.

Under acroread, check out File->Document Info->Fonts. The little dialog box says that all the fonts there are TrueType fonts with a Windows encoding.

So not only is Acrobat Reader probably a good idea, you'll also want to truss yer gear up to use TrueType fonts. Assuming you're using XFree86 4.x, this shouldn't be a problem, as there's a TrueType font server (i.e. Freetype) built right in...all you need to do is get the basic Windows fonts from a nearby Windows box (there are several ways to do this), configure them for X, add them to your fontpath, and go.
