Everytime a greatest video countdown airs on mtv or vh1, i wonder why heartshaped box is never even shown. Its better than teen spirit in my opinion. Funny thing about 3 1/2 weeks ago i saw heart shaped box air on mtv for the first time in say ohh 3 or 4 years. Damn near forgot how fuckin killer that video is. I especially love the version where he blankly stares into the camera withouth blinking for the whole final verse. | Feely

Just caught the "You Know You're Right" video on MTV2, so throw it onto my list, why the hell not. It's good for what it is, again, even if the song's already tiring on me. Oh, and how could I forget what are quite possibly the greatest videos of the year: Good Charlotte's "Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous" and Bowling For Soup's "Girl All The Bad Guys Want". | ManiacalClown

| #9 Posted on 15.10.02 2050.24 Reposted on: 15.10.09 2050.50 | I have a kinda low-key music awards thing every January, and, to date, the Best Music Video winners have been:
1996: "Tonight, Tonight" - The Smashing Pumpkins 1997: "Paranoid Android" - Radiohead 1998: "Body Movin" - The Beastie Boys 1999: "Learn To Fly" - Foo Fighters 2000: "Californication" - Red Hot Chili Peppers 2001: "Imitation of Life" - R.E.M.
Obviously, no 2002 winner for a few more months, although I'd bet anything "Fell In Love With A Girl" takes it.
(Oh, and conversely, here are your winners of Worst Music VIdeo during the same time period: 1996: "Head Over Feet" - Alanis Morissette 1997: "Mo Money Mo Problems" - The Notorious B.I.G. (feat. Puff Daddy and Mase) 1998: "Everybody (Backstreet's Back) - The Backstreet Boys 1999: "Larger Than Life" - The Backstreet Boys 2000: "Music" - Madonna 2001: "Lady Marmalade" - Christina Aguilera, Mya, Pink and Lil Kim) | Feely

| #14 Posted on 15.10.02 2336.47 Reposted on: 15.10.09 2339.21 | Oh yes, "Keep Fishin" is up there. Muppets will work wonders. A couple of other classics that I've seen:
* Garbage: "Push It". * Foo Fighters: "Learn to Fly".
There's a lot more... you can read. A few others I don't think anyone's mentioned:
* DJ Shadow: "You Can't Go Home Again". Although I haven't seen "Star Guitar" by the Chemical Brothers, it's the same sort of premise: the video builds upon rhythmic and melodic elements in the song. Kinda hard to describe, but very good.
* Pulp: "Bad Cover Version". Complete send-up of the "Do They Know It's Christmas?" video, featuring Kurt Cobain, Missy Elliot, Paul McCartney, and David Bowie. In impersonator form, of course. Absolutely hilarious.
Not up there, but still underrated:
* Ben Folds Five: "Brick". An absolutely beautifully shot video, with a great storyline that's actually related to the song. | Stefonics

"Lady Marmalade" won, almost entirely, for Christina Aguilera's hair. Personally, I felt the award should've gone to that "controversial" Madonna video they hyped up for weeks, only showed once (at the stroke of midnight), and basically consisted of her shooting a police officer with a squirt pistol. Talk about manufactured controversy. Still, I just pick the nominees, not the winners.
(And, what's interesting, every one of those other videos you mentioned were nominated in their respective years... Well, except U.N.K.L.E.'s. I didn't see that until it was almost two years old. It definitely would've been, though.)
And, did you know, that the concept for the "Keep Fishing" video was originally presented to Ozzy Osbourne for the "Dreamer" video, but Sharon nixed it because she wanted "something dark". | Feely
