The New York Knicks announced on Sunday that forward Antonio McDyess (acquired in the offseason from Denver in exchange for Marcus Camby) has suffered a broken kneecap. He will be out indefinitely, possibly for the rest of the season.

McDyess went down clutching his left knee with 1:55 remaining in Saturday night's preseason loss to the Phoenix Suns. Originally, the injury was thought to be a hyperextension, but an MRI revealed the fracture.

Well, the Knicks knew they were gambling when they acquired McDyess... but it looks like they lost the gamble big-time. This incident, coupled with the injury of Latrell Sprewell and the legal problems of Kurt Thomas, signals big trouble for the Knicks.

Not that I mind seeing them put together another crappy season.

Edit: I accidently referred to Sprewell's problems as legal, when it was actually his broken hand. Whatever.

This sucks big-time.

The Nuggets aren't doing any better with Camby out indefenitely as well. Camby of course blamed the Knicks medical staff.

It's False

McDyess is injured to roughly the surprise of nobody. Isn't this EXACTLY why New Yorkers were opposed to this trade? Isn't that EXACTLY why they booed when the trade was announced?

Damn, some people are hard-headed.

I guess we can call the trade a draw.

More Sprewell wackiness, he's suing the NY POST for $45 million claiming that they lied about his injury.

Also the Knicks suspended him one game because he hasn't shown up at any workouts.

Didnt the Knicks tell him not to come to any workouts after they found out about his injury, or am I getting the story wrong?

Unfortunately for Latrell, he's suing the Post for defamation of character, when in all actuality it should be definition of character.

From CNNSI.com, regarding Sprewell's lawsuit against the New York Post:

“I slipped and tried to brace my fall on the deck of my boat,” Sprewell said. “If I was trying to hit somebody, I think I would hit them. I would find a way to get at them if I was that angry about it. I wouldn't just miss a guy and not do anything.”

Well, gee, thanks for clearing that up, Spree. I just knew you weren't the type of guy to miss a punch and not do anything.

I think it's pathetic how Sprewell is trying to swear that the punching incident didn't happen, while at the same time still trying to act macho and say “If I was gonna punch someone, I would damn well have done it!”

Idiot.

This story gets weirder and weirder. Yesterday, Sprewell actually showed up for practice. He was joking with his teammates as if nothing happened.

Sprewell practiced with the team while on indefinite suspension?

There'll be hell to pay for that, I guarantee.

I haven't heard an official confirmation about the practice, so before I do I won't comment much more on that.

Espn.com is reporting that Sprewell's suspension was lifted, hence him showing up for practice.

I always liked this trade, myself. I mean, it isn't like McDyess is hurt as often as Camby (McDyess played 10 games last year, and only had one other year with less than 70 games played, 50 in '98). Yeah, I knew he was coming off an injury, but he appeared healthy to everyone, and Camby bruises like ripe fruit, so they were going to make out either way. I would put my money on McDyess having the better "rest of his career". Camby might get a hangnail and be out 2 more seasons, or he might tear an ACL while he is enjoying a bowl of Cheerios.

ITs hard to believe with all the appeal of playing in NY they cant field a good team. I mean MJ once said that upon leaving the bulls he would consider playing for the Knicks ( note never believe MJ) Plus it has always been know that Stephon Marbury would love to play there

That big-market appeal only makes things that much more satisfying for me when the Knicks do have a bad season.

Particularly if my Pacers and the Kings are at or near the top of their respective conferences.
