I really thought last year was Carter's year to win and this year was Karzai's. Which makes me think that this award was not so much to honor Carter as to blow a raspberry at Bush and his foreign policy in general.
That's unfortunate, and really unnecessary. I don't think the Nobel should be about influencing policy or opinion as much as it should be about honoring a peacemaker. But that's just me... | Promote this thread! |             | StaggerLee

Two consecutive years of a politically loaded Nobel Peace Prize selection is two too many. Hopefully next year the selection will be a bit more low profile.
