This article pretty much sums up my feelings about beibg a lefty as it relates to 9-11, and all that jazz. It's a pretty long article, but good.
NOTE: This is somewhat of show of trust on my part, as I'm a big lefty linking to an article by a big lefty that essentially bashes some of our fellow lefties. It's kind of in-house stuff here. Hey, kind of like that whole controversy about "Barbershop."
Anyway, I will be very dissapointed in my conservative compatriots on this board if I get a lot of "yeah, I agree, those liberals are so dumb and hate America, even this guy who's a liberal says so." This doesn't mean we think liberals or people against the war in Iraq are wrong or anti-american or what-not, just that these particular people are idiots.
Come to think of it, maybe this could turn into a "what kind of people in your political spectrum drive you nuts" thread.

Sadly there are many on this side of the fence who love to put things in factually dubious black and white boxes in the same way the Right often does. The worst part of it is the problems used in the article are the extremes that conservatives love to use to paint everybody who doesn't bang the war drum and wear a Bush button. The logic chain becomes these anti-Americans don't like Bush, I don't like Bush, thus I must be anti-American. Which frustrates me to no end. | Grimis

It illustrates the problems of ideology perfectly. With strong belief often comes smug self-righteousness. The first conclusion many thinkers come to is "I'm right". It's a very unfortunate facet of human nature and a very frustrating part of right, left, and in-between.
It's why I left the Libertarian party and it's why I try and keep myself more or less label-less today.
