How is Gene Hackman's role of Lex Luther left off the list? Definately a top 20 and he doesn't even break top 100.

Sorry, but Quilty has no business being on the list - he wasn't even the most despicable character in the novel or the movie.

And Noah Cross, Roy Batty, & Travis Bickle go WAY higher than they did. Fuck Vader.

Some of my personal favorites.
David Bowie, the Labyrinth - nothing says evil like kidnapping a baby, making the baby's sister go through a maze to find her, then poisoning her, and dancing with a bunch of trolls while singing "Dance Magic Dance"

Nemesis Enforcer - I still can't believe he jobbed to Sgt. Slaughter at the end.

The Stay Puft Marshmallow Men

John Malkovich in Con Air

A few that come to mind that should be on the list.
Guy Pearce, The Count of Monte Cristo - he put his best friend in jail, stole his wife and kid, treated them like crap then almost got the son to kill his father.

Joaquin Phoenix, Gladiator - he wanted to commit incest, what more do you want?

And in my opinion the biggest omission....

The Predator.

I think he's way better than the Alien or any of the Terminators and should probably be in the top 10.

Ones who made the list that I don't think should. (or in the wrong place)
Hugo Weaving, the Matrix - I'm not one of the many people who loved Matrix, I thought it was a unique story with great effects, but in my opinion not one single actor put on that good of a performance.

T-1000 and T-800 - Come on, T-1000 should be higher.

Michelle Pffeifer, Batman Returns - ehhh, Jack really should be the only Batman villian on there.

The Queen in Snow White - should be higher

Gunnar Hansen, Texas Chainsaw Massacre - should be higher.

Not too bad of a list.

i just saw Red Dragon, Ralph Finnes and Sir Anthony just ROCK BABY.

In a revision of that list, Ralph Finnes has to go up there in the top 20...

I must concur with Quezzy, the omission of the Predator is criminal. If the Alien and the Terminator can be on the list, Predator should have easily made it.

Tyler Durden should also be higher, IMO.

The problem with Vader #1 is he turned face. Now, they left off the list a man who did not turn face in a movie, and who brought forth cinematic perfection. Yes, of course I'm talking about Captain Lou, Captain Lou, Albano in Bodyslam.

I would have chosen Bill Lumbergh, most definitely. He is the devil. How about also: Wulfgar - NightHawks (Rutger Hauer) and Mr. Blonde - Resevoir Dogs (Michael Madsen). I just can't listen to "Stuck in the Middle" by Stealers Wheel and not think of him cutting off the cop's ear.

Longshanks definitely. What about Jet Li in Lethal Weapon 4? He was so intense even though he never spoke a word of English. And how about Christopher Lee as either Dracula or Saruman from The Lord of the Rings?

Darth Vader is an obvious choice, but everyone always mentions him. They should have tried thinking outside the box and picked The Emperor. Now that was one cocky, sleazy sonnovabitch. Either him or Peter Cushing as Grand Moff Tarkin.

The placement of Rutger Hauer's character from the Hitcher at 51 is criminal. The scene of him popping his face up with the kids playing in the station wagon is one of those perfect EVIL movie moments. And where in the hell is The Kurrgan from Highlander? You going to tell me he was less of a great movie villain than the guy in the Stepfather films? Lastly, I'm not sure exactly what qualifies R. Lee Ermey from Full Metal Jacket as a villain. He was doing his admittedly awful job of preparing men to kill other men in cold blood, but I'm not sure that qualifies as villainy.

Problem 2 was that he was revealed to be Humpty Dumpty shortly after his failed face turn.

I dunno. If you're talking about wrestling villians how can you NOT appreciate the "greatness" that is "ZZZZZZZZZEEEEEEUUUUUUSSSSSS."

On the other hand if you're talking about the kinda villiany that haunts your dreams for many nights to come, you just HAVE to recognise the sheer evil of Torgo, from "Manos: The Hands of Fate."

I would have expected to see Kenneth Brannagh on the list for his Iago in Othello (unless there was a restriction that the movie had to have made money).

I also think John Malkovich and Glenn Close deserve consideration for their roles in Dangerous Liasons. Maybe they're not scary villians, but you'll have a hard time finding people who treat eachother more evilly than those two.

And I just noticed in that list that Khan's full name is Khan Noonian Singh. I seem to recall that Data's creator was a Dr. Noonian Singh. Have I just finally grasped a large piece of Star Trek continuity that I was missing before?

Grand Moff Tarkin in the movies is evil. Grand Moff Tarkin in the prequel novels is much more evil. f you go by the novels, Palpatine would be move evil than Vader. BUT this is about movies. We'll see come Episode 3.

For now, I agree with Vader as number one.

And I agree with the above post by ekedolphin. Where's Walkin's love?

"My mother used to bug me all the time about how I always played villians. 'Just once I'd like you to play a good guy for a a change!'. Well mom, this is for you!".

- Walkin hosting SNL. Opening monologe, right before he goes into a broadway musical.

"I'm walkin'. CHRISTOPHER Walkin. In a winter. wonder. laaaaand!"

- Walkin during his musical number that he did for his mother.

Agreed, agreed, agreed and AGREED, SPF. Rutger Hauer in the Hitcher is probably one of the single most disturbing villian roles in movie history, even above Hopkins in Silence of the Lams (if he is even the "villian"). It is definately a top 10, if not a top 5.

I also have to agree with ekedolphin. Walken from View to a Kill has to be one of the sickest (as in bad) villians ever. Gunning down your own people who helped you build your doomsday device? Pure EVIL.
