While watching Smackdown last night I noticed something about Micheal Cole and Tazz's commentary that I really enjoyed. During several matches Cole would ask Tazz about a particular move or what a person is feeling or thinking while in the ring. Although it was subtle, I thought that it went a long way in giving credibility and relevance to not only the match going on, but also to Cole and Tazz.

I remember fondly watching old matches from MSG with Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse the Body where they would often break character and discuss the match going on as former wrestlers and it was often far more entertaining for me than when they were in character.

What are your thoughts on this?

Yeah, it's obvious that Tazz has a lot of respect for what the guys are doing in the ring and is truly enjoying watching it.

My personal favourite quote, somewhat along those lines, though, was:

Michael Cole: What the hell does Angle want with a chair?
Tazz: Well, he probably wants to hit Edge with it.

Exactly. And his enjoyment & appreciation of what we're all watching enhances our enjoyment & appreciation. Which (it occurs to me now that I've just typed it) is probably exactly the job description of a good colour commentator. Tazz & Cole are doing an excellent job together.

That is exactly what I'm talking about. Can you imagine what that particular quote would sound like on Monday night?

Jim Ross: What the hell does Angle want with a chair?
Lawler: Never mind that, did you her what our great GM said tonight? We're going to have a bra and panties match! Whoo Whoo!

Tazz would have So Ruled if he answered Cole about the chair like the girl in that Ikea commercial "I think he, I think he, I think he is going to put it over Edge's head."

Yeah, it'd be cool to have Cole and Tazz on SD! and Joey Styles and Paul Heyman on RAW, wouldn't it? Of course, that's just my opinion--I could be wrong.

It'd be even better when Cole hits puberty and his voice goes down a couple of levels. I wouldn't say he's good yet -- he still says some unbelievably stupid things -- but I'll admit he's a little better.

I would like Styles/Raven even more.
