Moss reportedly bumped officer with his car

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Vikings receiver Randy Moss was arrested Tuesday after being accused of bumping a police traffic officer with his car.

Moss' car also was impounded, police spokeswoman Cyndi Barrington said, without disclosing further details.

WCCO-TV reported Moss bumped the officer with his car in downtown Minneapolis, ignoring her signals to stop. The officer was not seriously hurt, the station reported.

Moss has been in trouble before on and off the field since he was drafted in 1998. He squirted a referee with a water bottle in 1999, and abused corporate sponsors on the team bus in 2001.

The Vikings are off to an 0-3 start, their worst since 1967, and Moss caught just four passes for 16 yards in Sunday's loss to Carolina.

Jesus, what an idiot. First, the "I only play when I want to" business. Then, he dogs his way through an 0-3 start, during which his effort has been half-assed at best (ESPN broke it down really nicely on Sunday's SportsCenter). Now, he tries his hand at running over a traffic officer - and was probably surprised when the police showed up to haul him away. For this, he's being paid $75 million over an eight-year contract, and being called the most important member of the Vikings (which must thrill Daunte Culpepper no end).

Now ESPN is reporting that the Minneapolis police plan to charge Moss with felony second-degree assault. I guess that Moss is trying to prove all those people who called him a felon correct.

No great loss to the league or his team. He has clearly shown no heart so far this season,IMO. The Vikings are clearly better off w/o him.

The Vikings are the new candidates for the Sports Guy's "Ewing Theory." If Moss is lost for the season (doubtful, but we can hope) I could see the Vikes going to the Super Bowl.

Also, I would have paid Cash Money to see Culpepper jump on Moss and start whupping his ass. With an added bonus that not one of the Vikes would stop him from breaking Randy's neck.

I agree with pretty much all that has been said in this thread.

However, nothing will come of this. He will get off of the charge by paying some fine and doing some sort of community service. The Vikings will continue to put his sorry ass on the field.

Should they deal him?? Probably, but who the hell wants that cancer on their team???

His personality would fit well in Oakland. Of course, I would like to see him dealt to Philadelphia so they pelt him with batteries after his trademark 3 catch for 12 yard performances.

Moss is one of the most overrated players in football, today. He didn't even look at Culpepper when he got yelled at on Sunday.

Considering they won't let him out on bail, I doubt that he's going to get off easy. Remember, if he hit a normal person, the cops would have no problem letting him go, but he hit a cop, thus, they will go after him.

How exactly would he fit-in in Oakland? A team with the veteran leadership of Gannon, Brown, Romo, Rice, Woodson(s), and Armstrong sure as hell wouldn't put up with the me first shit. 4-5 years ago yeah he would have fit in great with the team, now i don't know if he would start with the attitude he displays.

Now that's funny.

On a more serious note, the StarTribune has posted the most detailed article I've seen on the incident yet. For those interested, check it out at The Minneapolis Star Tribune .

After reading that story, it sounds to me that using a word like "cop" might be an exaggeration.

Maybe true, but its still the same thing. Is this person REALLY any different than a traffic cop?

From the article:

"He gave no resistance and 'he is going to be treated no different than anybody else as far as the Minneapolis Police Department is concerned,' said spokeswoman Cyndi Barrington."

Moss was later charged with two misdemeanors instead of the "everyday person that we're going to treat him" felony; Cyndi Barrington, who you crappin'?

Two words for you: Plea Bargain. Betcha they just got him to plead guilty to the two misdemeanors, instead of taking him to a felony trial which would cost a lot more, and that they may not win.

At least, that would seem to be the obvious solution to me.

Hmm, reminds me of something else that happened earlier this year. I can just see this conversation happening;

Moss on the phone: "Man, thanks for those legal tips they really helped me out!"

On the other end, Iverson: "I told you I always have the answer!"

Couldn't happen to a nicer piece of human garbage.

And of course, ESPN.com says the Vikes plan to start his sorry a** on Sunday. A Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In "Flying Fickle Finger of Fate" to Minnesota management for looking like a pool table after Minnesota Fats is finished running it...NO BALLS.

she has no police powers. she's just a gal who controls traffic. Here in maryland, they have police powers, because they usualy are police. my elementary school crossing guard, who i just saw the other day and is pushing 80, used to carry a gun under her orange vest...
