They've retained their core lineup for 10+ years and are basically the only surviving members of the 90's "Seattle Scene". And after seeing them in 2000, they can still kick it live. I still don't think that PJ are (or ever really were) "grunge" in the accepted sense. Their last few albums have had more of a classic rock/melodious element to them...Yield is one of the most underrated records of all time.
BTW, Brad (Stone Gossard's other band) has a very good new album out as well. | ManiacalClown

Reposted on: 22.9.09 0316.49 | It's great listening to Binaural months after the first listen. It turns out to be a very good and interesting album, despite the shortcomings. I'm hoping Riot Act eliminates the problems I have with Binaural, mainly the jilted love act that was going on.

I totally disagree..Ten is the happy go lucky yay lets play these 3 chords and make a riff around it album.
I love it to death, but they have made other great if not better stuff since.
The more recent albums seem lot more personal to me, (i know, black & songs like that are personal too) even though the music has changed alot. More raw and emotional.
Then again, Eddie used to be angry and frustrated in the early years, he seems more balanced now..
ANyways, I think their strength lies on stage, where the emotion really comes across.

If Pearl Jam had kept making videos, doing interviews, TV apperances, and all that industry stuff, they'd be the biggest American rock band going right now. The word 'legend' would be being bandied about on a regular basis. | Scar
