Ok, just general bitching here. Does anyone really accept TripleH as a "world" champion? Don't get me wrong, I love the big gold belt, but c'mon. They got rid of the Euro and Hardcore belts for *this*?!? In my eyes(and I bet a lot of other fan's), Brock Lesnar is still the true champion. Even if they're just calling him the WWE champion now. You don't put over a year's work training a guy, then build him up to be a wrecking machine for 6 months, have Taker drop the title to Rock just so Rock can drop it to Brock, just to bring back another belt! Ugh! The writers are on crack. TripleH and RVD can feud all they want, but there shouldn't be a belt involved. I would have kept Brock as the Undisputed champ and had him face RVD at Unforgiven. There can be only one world title, and it's still around the waist of the Next Big Thing, Brock Lesnar.

I'd accept this belt, if it were actually earned, and not on Triple H's waist.

Would it have been better if they'd lied and said HHH had won a tournament over the weekend or something? Weren't a majority of belts just handed to the original champion back in the old days? What if, instead of just handing it to HHH, they'd made the HHH vs. Flair match where the winner became the first World Champion instead of just HHH defending against Flair? Everyone seems completely positive that they're going to reunify the titles. What if Vince gets his wish and actually splits the 2 shows into completely separate companies?

Know what...that's a great idea. I like that. If they renamed WWE RAW to something, and took all the WWE references out of it, that may help out a bit. Call it the old WCW, for all we care. Just do something.

Well, if Lesnar turns face and goes against heel HHH to settle the issue at Wrestlemania or whatever, then this is how you SHOULD feel for that storyline to work! Dunno if this will happen, obviously.

I was pissed when HHH was handed the belt, but later that night, he defended it against Flair. He got a clean win. Now, I don't have a problem with it. If HHH had won his three title defenses by DQ, I'd have a problem, but once he successfully defended the title it became "legit."

Vince wants you to be pissed. You're supposed to take a side in all this. You're supposed to care. This sort of thing didn't happen in the InVasion... at first, Booker T was going to be a face. There would have been faces and heels on both sides, and it would have been okay to root for them. However, they turned it into WCW are heels, WWF are faces. Well, duh. Booker T turned and the InVasion was doomed.

This competition between brands is so much more realistic (though obviously not real). Me, I'm a Raw fan for some reason. I love Angle, Mysterio, Guerrero and Heyman- and the SD shows have been better lately, but for some reason I still prefer RAW. All y'all Smackdown fans can suck it.

I was not happy about the belt being given to HHH. I would have rather seen a tournament on RAW with the major stars going at it for a few weeks then crown the World Champion at Unforgiven. As it is, I feel like Brock has gotten the shaft. As soon as he became undisputed champ, HHH, who cannot stand not being in the limelight, is crowned champion by getting the belt handed to him. Hell, I am not happy over the fact that Jericho hasn't ever been given the nod in a match with HHH. OK, enough ranting from me. I like HHH but at least job to some of the younger guys.

I think the point of giving HHH the belt was to piss everyone off. Well they did a great job 'cause HHH has even more heat now and that will make the "unification" i.e. payoff even better. Duh!

Yes, I agree... Triple H being handed the belt was a heat-creating device. It'll make whomever beats him for it that much more over. And if RVD wins it from him, it might be the thing that makes him a permanent main-eventer.

At least, that's the optimist's viewpoint.

The problem isn't that HHH was given the belt. Even if he wasn't given it, they would have had him just beat a bunch of guys (which he has in subsequent weeks) to get the belt. Either way, it's the same crap.

My problem is that they took away from Brock's thunder. At SummerSlam, Brock was THE Man, who beat the top face at the second (third with SurSer in MSG?) biggest PPV of the year. The next night, they made Brock look like he was running scared from UT & HHH and have taken away 1/2 of the World Title his character earned. They're killing the guy's heat.

If they wanted two world titles, they should have done it that way in the first place. Or, better yet, have one World Champ, the IC Title being the top title on RAW and the NWA Western States Heritage Title as the top title on SMACKDOWN!.

If HHH is the World Champion, then why is Brock the World Wrestling Entertainment Champion? Shouldn't he just be the Wrestling Entertainment Champion?

The way it is, they've set up a crappy scenario for an idea that could have been good. I don't think they're doing it right at all.

They REALLY need to do something about the names of the titles. I'd suggest calling them "SmackDown World Champion" and "Raw World Champion" but that sucks. Personally they should dust off the WCW initials and hand them to Bisch, just to give Raw a more separate identity. Then you "WCW World Champion" and "WWE World Champion". Scoot Keith can rant about how much WCW is dead all he wants, using those three simple letters at this point would make all the difference in defining the shows.

Labelling things WWE & WCW makes things diluted. Hell, "World Champion" is supposed to be the GREATEST IN THE WORLD. PERIOD. So, Brock Lesnar was Undisputed Champion. Which means, NOBODY WAS BETTER. The easier way to do the title split was to simply have the Board of Directors get petitioned by Bischoff to force Brock to defend on RAW, as his contract stipulates as Undisputed Champion. Since he would refuse (as he'd be told to do by Steph), the Board of Directors would dissolve the Undisputed Championship into 2 championships [and hold tournaments for both, culminating with the semi-finals or quarter finals onward to the finals at Unforgiven.

Why tournaments?

Simple. It sez WRESTLING on the marquee, so WRESTLING is what yer gonna get.

For the sake of argument, here's my imaginary tournaments:
The rules: 8 man, single elimination, no DQs or countouts

World Championship [RAW]
HHH, Flair, Big Show, Kane, RVD, Jericho, Jeff Hardy, Bubba Dudley
Triple H def. Bubba Dudley
Kane def. Big Show
Ric Flair def. Jeff Hardy
Rob Van Dam def. Chris Jericho
SEMI: Triple H def. Kane
SEMI: Rob Van Dam def. Ric Flair
FINAL: Rob Van Dam def. Triple H

WWE Championship [SmackDown!]
Angle, Lesnar, Benoit, Eddy, Taker, Mysterio, Cena, Rikishi
Brock Lesnar def. John Cena [SQUASH!!]
Undertaker def. Eddy Guerrero
Kurt Angle def. Rey Mysterio
Chris Benoit def. Rikishi
SEMI: Brock Lesnar def. Undertaker
SEMI: Chris Benoit def. Kurt Angle
FINAL: Brock Lesnar def. Chris Benoit

So, not only do we get all these fine, fine matches on PPV...but we get not one...but TWO fully legimized champions who had to win 3 matches apiece to win their belts. And hell, Rob Van Dam goes through Jericho, Flair and HHH to win, whilst BROCK goes through such lumanaries as John Cena, The Undertaker and Benoit (or Angle, depending how you'd book that match).

*Sigh*

OBVIOUSLY The Maz. Although I didn't watch season 10 regularly, I remember seeing him walking around the house with a title belt, and he signed up for a wrestling school after the season ended.

I suppose we have to look at the RAW World Championship as yet another integral detail into what Eric Bischoff's GM character is all about. Think about it-- if the guy is so egotistical and closed-minded that he has to use his show RAW as his platform for all of his dim-witted opinions and holier-than-thou attitude, i.e. HLA, 3 minutes, and so on, what would keep Bischoff from him feeling that his brand MUST have a World title? And what better way to do it than to give it to the biggest dick heel on RAW? I dunno, though. I'm for the championship and all, but they've really gotta deliver some type of payoff that makes this World Title thing make sense.

And I agree with others that the WCW should be brought back for the championship. I mean, who knows? Wouldn't it be great if it led up to Uncle Eric turning RAW into Nitro, at least for a while in the storyline?

Yup. He's training out here in the West with UPW. Was going to be Tough Enough Jake's manager in his match out here, but Jake flaked.
