On Confidential, Vince McMahon defended HLA, and the "commitment ceremony", although he said that it went too far when Rosie and Jamal attacked the lesbians in the HLA segment. Hmmm.

Also, they had a good history of the World (WCW) title, showing some of the people they held the belt, luckily they didn't show Arqette. They also didn't show Scott Steiner, too. They did show the Big Show (Giant) winning the title, and one of the people congradulating him was Yeti(!!)

They also talked about the different titleholders, most notably Sting, who got dissed by Booker T, saying he wasn;t motivated.

Overall, a pretty good Confidential

Next Week: Kurt Angle in Colorado.

I thought the cracks by Uncle Eric about Sting were worse than the one's made by Booker, as Booker's could have been directed as Nash etc. As for Vince's comments, someone should remind Vince he's lost half his value in 2 years, so maybe receiving negative reaction from the viewers shouldn't be one of his goals.

There were definitely some interesting comments re: past title holders, most notably DDP. Everyone seemed to be down on him as the World Champion, which to me seemed hypocritical, considering the company also can claim David Arquette and Vince Russo as champ, among others.

I thought Bischoff made a good point(was it Bischoff??) when he(or someone) said that they were disappointed that Sting never got the chance to work with Vince McMahon, and that he could have been one of the biggest stars the industry has ever seen.

I would have to agree.

They spent a nice chunk of time on Goldberg too, which seems funny to me for a guy who isn't in the company, and who the company line is that there's really no intrest "at this time". But, then again, everybody just said, "Oh, right place, right time, but he was nothing REALLY special".

Interesting. Not sure it means anything, but it IS interesting.

I usually buy the crap that comes out of Vince's mouth "Bret screws Bret" hey I could see his point. "XFL is real football" yes XFL is cool... But this time I'm looking at this guy and thinking, your trying to sell me piss and calling it lemonade.

After watching this my worry level went way up. It really REALLY looks like Vince McMahon is absolutely clueless. He sounds so desperate and going to the last resort "shock value" for the sake of shock value. This isn't "we are going to allow colourful language because long term it is important for a character like Stone Cold" this is for no reason at all we are going to be controversial just to get a raise out of people... Someone should clue him in that the Howard Stern shockjock era died out in the mid 90s and his Saturday night TV show was cancelled.

Another scary thing is hearing Vince talk about how he's willing to turn off fans that he have now to go after people that might or PROBABLY NOT be there... Also how confident he is that the HARDCORE fans will stick by them no matter what, I'm sure WCW thought the same thing before they went out of business. And I'm sure none of the fans that left WWE over the year were HARDCORE fans that were so sick and tired of the product that they just left. This way in thinking is nothing more then insane.

Once again he seems truly ignorant on the fact that the real problem with the WWE is the awful writing on the most part and the refusal to stick with a new main event talent before going back to Taker/HHH. If they got behind RVD or anyone else longterm like it seems they are getting behind HLA wWE wouldn't be in the trouble to begin with... Another thing that was sad is how Vince seems to jerkoff everytime the mainstream media mentions him badly. "Bad Press is good press", Once again learns nothing from past mistakes. XFL got tones of bad press, it sure helped them. When does the second season start again?

Prediction WWE will be off network/cable in 18 months and on syndicated television.

Back to something less annoying the WCW Title, interesting title recap. I for one liked DDP as champion ALOT. Really surprised a lot dissed him including Booker's "manufactured" line. As a Goldberg hater it was nice to see finally some put him in his place publicly as a guy who was "right place, right time" and a "forced champion". And I forgot Big SHow/Giant won his WCW first match in, errr how bad is that!

I was intrigued by the WCW title history and found it very interesting. I wish people wouldn't trash DDP as champion, because he deserved every run he got. He always worked hard and put in his best effort during each and every outing. He reminds me of The Rock, in that he was VASTLY unappreciated and unfairly trashed. If you really think about it, DDP and The Rock are a lot alike, except Rocky wasn't neighbors with the boss.

I was surprised at how they were seemingly trashing guys like Sting and Goldberg, but then again, maybe I shouldn't be. WCW is EVIL in Titanland, no matter what anybody tells you. I'm convinced that Vince's goal is to ultimately destroy any remaining legacy of WCW once and for all, which doesn't make sense to me since he owns the company.

As for Vince's speech regarding HLA and the "commitment ceremony", I can only say that the guy is losing touch with his key demo. Vince, HLA brought in your worst ratings in 4 years for a reason! Nobody wants to see it and it's not because we're all raging homosexuals! That isn't shocking to us anymore! The Jerry Springer era is over and it's time to move to the next big thing (and I don't mean Brock Lesnar).

Of course, what I REALLY find interesting is that even VINCE was uncomfortable with the Island Boyz' attack. That says a lot.

And Rock drew money as a headliner. DDP never did.

There is the added fact that neither men cared much about the business. Sting lost his motivation years before WCW died. Goldberg's just a psycho on an egotrip.

Did anyone else notice that Vince said that there were gay people wrestling? Not that is any suprise but he did admit that some of the wrestlers are really gay. So maybe Jeff Hardy will come out of the closet and get a big push.
One thing the WWE needs to quit doing is to stop with the gay guy accidently drops his head into straight guys crotch. Then the straight guy freaks out. That isn't a really good way to get across that you are saying that being gay is OK.

Next thing you know, Patterson will admit he's gay. Vince doesn't care about getting over that being gay is OK, if the crotch spot causes a reaction from the fans, he will continue to have the spot booked (That, and Patterson books the matches, so maybe Patterson just likes the spot personally). As for Jeff Hardy, he should just be glad Vince hasn't popped in some old tapes and broken out parts of Adrian Adonis' wardrobe for him.

i'm pretty sure Vince was reffering to Patterson, and not Jeff "I like hankies in my pants" Hardy...

I really doubt Vince was uncomfortable with the segment. Why? Like HHH said that the internet marks don't get, Vince McMahon is where the buck stops, he is the final filter for every thing we see on tv. So if he had doubts or reserves about a segment he should've cut it out.

Vince obviously said it to just cover his ass for TNN, after they issued a press release separating themselves from the content on RAW. Honestly, deep down, I think Vince is really happy with whatever controversy or bitching comes out of segments like HLA and the wedding.

I agree that Vince thought the HLA was a good idea before hand. Well, it wasn't and I don't really care about that. As long as he learns from this I am content. Maybe Lawler will be kept on a shorter leash now. But probably not.
